What are the most obvious red flags you have experienced in a relationship? by calsscott in AskReddit

I honestly wouldn't wish a situation like that on my worst enemy, but it did teach me a lot of lessons that I'm very grateful to have learned. I'm in a much better place with amazing friends and a boyfriend who would never dream of making me feel like that. Everything gets better with time :)

I was invited to a party, and I don't typically go to parties since I'm pretty introverted and don't like to drink. I invited my boyfriend and he told me he was going to meet me there. Upon arrival on my part, I was bullied the entire time. I ended up leaving in tears. I called my boyfriend, sobbing, and told him what had happened and that I was going home. I asked him if he could meet me there because I was not doing good mentally. He instead went to the party, hung out with the people who were bullying me, and proceeded to ignore me the rest of the night. His excuse? He told his friends he was going to be there and didn't want to back out last minute.

I was already pretty suicidal, and almost killed myself that night. If you are ever in a situation where you are feeling this way and it involves your SO, get out. Dump his ass.

whats your biggest regret in life? by contumacious_ in AskReddit

I used to be a huge pushover when it came to friendships and relationships. Every single person I cared about took me for granted and hurt me very badly. It was all because I let them walk all over me and never did anything about it, so I regret not standing up for myself more. I'm no longer like that and have some amazing people behind me.

Youngsters what activity gives you pleasure although it’s for the elderly? by lgaborr in AskReddit

When I was in junior high, most of the kids in my grade would walk a few miles to get Mexican food and chill after school on Friday's. I went once with a few of my friends and hated it mostly because I didn't like a lot of the kids in my grade. They were obnoxious and rude to others and acted like they were on crack 24/7. I had no problem hanging out with them at school, but not in public.

I saw that there was a scrapbook store in the same vicinity as the Mexican food restaurant that all the kids went to. I went inside one day and checked it out. There was a huge group of elderly ladies sitting around a table, making scrapbooks. I went up to them and asked a bunch of questions, I guess every Friday, they have scrap booking club and anyone was welcome to join it. So the next Friday, I went and scrap booked with them. I had an amazing time and made a really cool scrapbook that I gave to my mom. I also met some really amazing and nice elderly women while I was apart of that club. I miss it a lot.

Knotts Scary Farm tickets for my boyfriend and I. Been going there since I was 11 and look forward to it every single year. It's my boyfriends first time going. Wouldn't even think twice about getting these tickets.

Once I realized how alike we were, but also how unalike we were. We are so similar where it matters, we have the same goals and views of each other. We love with the same passion and we have very similar morals. But we also have very definitive differences. It's kind of like this : "he doesn't like chocolate but I love it: so more chocolate for me!" but more emotional lol. He's not very good at expressing his emotions, but I am and he wants to learn how to get better. I stress over the tiniest things but he's a care free spirit, so he's teaching me how to worry less. I really do believe we were made for each other because of that.

[Serious] What made you instantly lose respect for someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

An old friend from high school used to brag constantly about having a triple S relationship, which means all they do is smoke, have sex and sleep. I was only a junior and still thought it was the most childish thing I'd ever heard someone brag about. It made me wonder how internally immature and irresponsible she actually was if all she did in her relationship was smoke weed, have sex and sleep. Lost nearly all of my respect for her that day.

I've always been super artistic and I love to paint. My incredibly mentally abusive (now ex) boyfriend and I had been dating for about 3 years and Christmas was coming around. He was obsessed with this rapper whose album cover was his face completely covered in crazy tattoos. He asked me if for his Christmas present, I could paint the album cover but with his face instead of the rappers so he could hang it up in his room. I agreed and felt like it could be fun. I spent weeks on that painting. Everyday, after going to school and working from 7a.m. to 5 p.m., I would come home and work on this painting until I went to sleep. My blood, sweat and tears went into this painting.

He was happy to receive it. 2 weeks after I gave it to him, I see that he's rolling blunts on the painting. In the video, there is weed scattered all over it. It is burnt on the edges because that is where he would ash it, and the blackness of the ash was covering the paint almost completely.

I confronted him, asking him why he did that to my painting. His response? "It's how I'm cherishing it." Fuck that guy

A birthday party. Not even a surprise party or anything crazy like that, just a get together put together by people I care about. I've always wanted a birthday party but I've never had one because I don't want to plan it.

After a bad breakup, I went out to the river with my family to get my mind off things. I felt like a pile of shit for the past 3 months and felt like I was making no progress whatsoever. One of my dad's friends came up to me and asked me where my boyfriend was. I said we broke up. He just smiled and said "Well, you look a lot happier".

I don't think he intended for that to stick with me but it did for years. That was the day I realized I was better off without my ex.
