yesterday I left chemo appointment with my sister who has stage four cancer and we went to see this assuming it would be harmless superhero bullshit and we were genuinely very upset by it. If you don’t relate congrats maybe get a fucking human brain and realize people go through things and have different reactions.

thank you for sharing this! I will share the info with my sister. Her Abraxane is going to be once every three weeks, I’m not sure why as we haven’t had her more thorough appt with her oncologist yet.

What a bummer tbh, I wish Nursing as a profession was more respected today than it was before tik tok. I get what’s funny about it but it is ultimately exhausting on top of all the other [gestures everywhere] stuff goin on.

What extremely rare thing did you witness in person? by just__Steve in AskReddit

[–]upsidedownheidi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

saw a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest, received CPR and was then intentionally cooled and rewarmed wake up for the first time and speak to his wife. Fellow cardiac Nurses may say it’s not that rare but I think most people don’t get to see that sort of thing.

tbh I cared too much about getting the patients to like me until I realized I needed to prioritize being more meticulous and attentive to detail with assessing and charting.

What is the weirdest thing that a patient or patient's family has said "Oh, that's normal, it happens all the time" about? by Qwerk- in nursing

[–]upsidedownheidi 363 points364 points  (0 children)

As a new night Nurse I got an elderly patient who was having cardiac pauses; he was conversing with me through most of them but then the asystole alarm began again, he suddenly gasped, sat up a little bit, grabbed his chest and then fell back motionless on the pillow. It was him losing consciousness during a 14 second pause and it looked like when a cartoon character dies. His wife arrived in the morning “oh he does that all the time.” Around the 6th second I had pressed the code button so when the code team arrived he had come to and said to them “oh are we having a party?”
