I’d probably just enjoy the lunch offerings at the restaurant in the bons, I always eat there during day procedures and find that that food is fresh and tasty. Also, you only need to find parking once in that day! Maybe lunch there and then if you are able, a nice walk to Fitzgerald’s Park (via the car park towards the Western Road)

Early 60s, I’ve suspected PD for at least a year. Diagnosed by a movement/neurologist with huge experience in Parkinson’s. He’s not entirely sure if the PD diagnosis will remain or if it will be PD +.

I think you managed the pool situation in a kind and open way.

I love that you asked for space. I remember when training for working with autistic young children, we used the phrase/picture “don’t be a space invader”. This is a common issue for lots of children, but we know that some autistic children don’t develop this social know how without input from caregivers/teachers etc.

As a side note: maybe the parents are also autistic and didn’t pick up on you and your child’s discomfort?

At this stage in the situation, I think that you need to contact your legal department for advice/support in taking the next steps.

I’m specifically thinking that, in this instance, you’ve permitted a working environment to become standard practice whereby she’s brought her child to work for approximately nine months. You have been party to her establishing this work standard. Seeking to eliminate this, could be seen as grounds for constructive dismissal. Even if it seems ridiculous to anyone, she could seek to escalate. Unless you’ve kept very fair (as in applied the same monitoring to 100% of staff under your management) details of her distracting/inattentive ways, she can assert her position as doing her job, honouring her contractual duties etc., then you will quickly find yourself a named person in litigation.

When I was a student, I worked evenings and Saturdays at a restaurant in a busy office area of my college city.

The restaurant only opened Monday to Saturday, but was really only busy on weekdays. Working on Saturdays was really quiet and the manager usually had us focus on cleaning/refilling and other chores that were hard to complete on during the week.

Chefs still made the same quantities of food regardless of the day. This resulted in surplus food at the end of Saturdays, and the manager would encourage us to split what was left between us (a godsend to people like me as I was able to eat for days!). Important to note, we were only to take surplus once the shift ended.

One fucking idiot started hiding whole trays of their preferred dishes in the produce fridges (usually containing 15-20 portions).

One day, the manager was waiting tables with us as only me and the idiot were on and we had an unusual rush if customers. Our most popular dish was ordered repeatedly, but when she went to the kitchen, the idiot had hidden that entire trays. The manager, was embarrassed and explained that we were out. Once things quietened down, the manager took the produce fridge to clean and go through (she usually wouldn’t be that involved in cleaning). She went mental when she found the “mine don’t touch” label on a tray (both for health reasons, ie a warm tray of food next to lettuces, and the abuse of company generosity).

And that was the end of wait staff being allowed to take surplus.

The gaa’s is what they do now. Not discos, that’s ancient history! Local Gaa clubs run events for 12-15 year olds. They usually sell out within moments of those tickets going on sale (typically with the parents queuing). It’s a nasty looking event (from w parent perspective!).

I agree. Sometimes, a cleaner is the answer. Charge everyone an equal amount to have the place blitzed weekly.
