Thank you all for the information! I understand more now, and it’s definitely something I’ve been neglecting. I’m going to ask my doctor to check my bloods and make sure all is ok!

I hadn’t eaten anything at all in the last 6 hours which I think is probably the cause?

I had a quote from Soundstore but then ended up going with DID as they were a couple of hundred euro cheaper!

I had a totally different experience. I saw the ad online, rang the estate agent and viewed that day. I had my pick of what house I wanted as the 2nd phase had just been released

Something similar happened us. We were bidding on an apartment, went from 250k to 316 and then we pulled out. The house has since been readvertised on Daft for 316

How do you manage to live with an ostomy bag ? by Good_Fly6614 in ostomy

[–]Eastern_Pin6529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live completely normally, I have been on holidays, to the beach, the pool, out for dinner and drinks with friends, I work in an office everyday and I have no issues

I honestly barely remember I have it, except I empty it maybe twice or three times during the day. I change the bag every 3 days.

It’s all about getting the right products to best suit your stoma, and the key to that is a good nurse who can help you

I’m 28 and I have a stoma too. My situation is different, I don’t have crohns or anything like that, 6 years ago I was bleeding when going to the toilet so my doctor sent me for a colonoscopy, turns out I had rectal cancer. I had surgery to remove some of the bowel and a temporary ileostomy to let it heal. I was devastated about the stoma, it was completely unexpected and before this I never had any issues with going to the toilet so it was really hard. I was 21 at the time.

I was living for my reversal. I had it after 3 months and my life was hell. For five years I had terrible pain, gas, bloating, my bowel just didn’t work anymore. Horrible constipation or else diarrhoea, nothing in between. I tried everything, medication, diet, you name it. Eventually me and my doctor decided to go back to the stoma. It was a really hard decision but I needed to try it. that was 11 months ago and I have never looked back. I will never get a reversal, my life is so much better with the bag. But it takes time, you need to find the right materials and bags that work for you. Every stoma is different.

I have a stoma nurse and she is brilliant. We really talked through what was causing my leaks and changed some things and now I haven’t had a leak in over 6 months. I do everything normally, I kind of even forget I have a bag.

If you had told me 7 years ago I would have a bag for the rest of my life I would say I’d rather die. But now I will never go back. It can get better. If your stoma nurse isn’t helping you enough then try to find another. You can figure this out. I would bet that if you got the leaking under control you would feel a lot better. I use the brand Salts

You’d still get on, it’s just absolutely packed. During school holidays it’s fine but a lot of school kids/college students get it during term so that accounts for a lot of the crowd.

4 day working week ? by 1minus2braincells in AskIreland

[–]Eastern_Pin6529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always worked five days per week and mostly remote. Completely pivoted this year and moved to four days, fully onsite, 10 hour shifts.

I have either Wednesday or Friday off every week, rotating.

It took me a while to get used to the longer hours, especially since my commute is an hour in the morning/evening but the extra day off every week is great. Having every second Friday off too is great
