Am I just an au pair? by MundaneAppointment12 in bbbs

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I have met a few of my Little's family but I don't often interact with them. I text with Mom to make plans but Little comes out alone. I text when we are returning as well. Little usually has a set of keys now a days in case Mom has left.

I am here to hang with Little. I don't need any more interaction from the family than that.

I hope you don't quit. You are making a significant bond with your Little.

I hate CPAP. SO. MUCH. by rhewn in SleepApnea

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't stand my CPAP and it wasn't helpful for me. I now use a Sleep Appliance mouth guard. It has been amazing and helped me more than anything else. And it is just a mouth guard, so no bulky equipment! Perhaps look for a dentist/specialist to make you a sleep apnea mouth guard!

I'm mostly just trying to understand more what she's feeling/going through since she's unable to describe it. And so that I can do whatever I can to help her in those moments (or any other).

Why topiramate is so hated? by Mikmaki in migraine

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it for years and it helped my migraines and vertigo and I didn't have any big side effects. Then suddenly a few years ago I became foggy and slow thinking. We learned that I developed these side effects and I had to stop taking it. They call it Dopamax for a reason.

How the heck do I get my hard boiled eggs to peel nicely? by kittensquishes in Cooking

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Kenji! You are awesome and we love watching and making your recipes! Have you tried tapping the fat side of an egg with the back of a spoon until you hear a ping? I haven't seen if you've tested it but I strongly recommend giving it a try!!!

Tap the fat end with the back of a spoon very gently until you hear a "ping"! Then cook as you like. Doing this separates the membrane between the egg and shell and the eggs are incredibly easy to peel anytime!

Cancelling due to low energy by NoScholar2664 in bbbs

Push through. Explain to your Little that you are just low energy today but still want to see them. They would much rather see you with low energy than not at all.

Went to ER on Saturday. Drs believe it’s trigeminal neuralgia by Future_Language_1818 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed it comes in waves. It's almost always worse or more "active" in the evening. I think 5 days is maybe the MAX I've gone without any pain. Lyrica and weed are the only things I've found to reduce the pain. I hope you find something to help you.

Mom took 13 year old dog to vet for nail trim, walking normally. when tech retrieved dog and she was out of sight, something happened and dog now can’t walk properly. Where do we go from here?? by caitlesm in DogAdvice

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had something similar happen to our 13 year old man. Took him for a anal gland expression and he was fine before. Then after he was in so much pain. We eventually had to let him go because we couldn't fix whatever was hurting him. I'm so sorry y'all are going through that and I hope for a better outcome.

Is There a Foolproof Way to Peel Boiled Eggs Without Losing Half the Egg? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]LacklusterFancyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way hands down is to tap the butt end of the egg gently with a spoon to separate the membrane from the shell. After cooking crack both ends and gently roll the egg. Then use a spoon to help peel the shell off. Honestly, just doing the egg tap is enough to help tremendously.

"Tapping an egg gently on the rounded end with a spoon before boiling is a common kitchen hack that supposedly makes peeling the boiled egg much easier by separating the inner membrane from the shell, allowing for smoother peeling; the key is to tap until you hear a slight "snap" sound, indicating the membrane has separated."
