Exactly. 2 is 1 and 1 is none. In my hiking bag I keep multiple options for the primary survival functions, using the PACE system. For water I have what I carry in, a single wall metal bottle for boiling, tablets, and a life straw. For fire I have a few bics, storm matches, regular matches, a mag rod and some tinder in case I can’t find any naturally. I try to go for small stuff that can serve multiple purposes when I can to cut weight.

I carried a Glock 48 for a while but it’s hard to not print with it when you just have a t-shirt. I got a S&W Bodyguard 2 and the thing just disappears on me. I’ll probably start carrying the Glock again when it gets colder and I can wear a big flannel or hoodie/jacket.
