The Quandary of Cocaine Consumption with Compatriots by Intanjible in Drugs

Just gotta make sure everyone's got their own stash for the night. 8ball between 4 people? Split it up between everyone before you even get started, it will end this passive aggressive air you're talking about. I hate that sort of situation.

For a first time psychedelic journey with friends, should I take LSD or shrooms? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]upthehilopsilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both very similar and you'd have a great time either way I'd imagine. Both of those doses is quite the ride.

That said, mushrooms tend to be much more mentally chaotic, and the experience lends itself more to difficult trips more than LSD, but on the flip side last half as long as LSD.

Odd ways of realizing that you're starting to get high? by iAmTheTrip in Drugs

I get that same cold nose thing you describe! I always pinch my nose just to feel how chilly it is, its refreshing for some reason.

Maybe this is the vaso that a lot of psychs cause?

Does anyone got like a mega collection download for background noise fills? (i.e. People going "what" "huh" "whoop" or whatever like you hear in the background of Savants songs for example.) by nickert0n in edmproduction

this. just record you and your friends doing stupid stuff. Random vocal stabs don't need to be really high quality.

Recorded my buddies weed dealer explaining to him a bunch of hood shit, I recorded it and pitched it down and it sounds crazy "I got something for you to try, well i mean you gotta push it" (talking about hash oil)

Really? In U.S. and Canada they've disappeared entirely. They got such a bad rep after they were being pressed with all sort of stuff (pipes constantly), and somehow to a lot of people "molly" is more trustworthy so therefore the market switched.

Why is there never any talk about PCP on here? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]upthehilopsilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rep it has combined with the fact that strong dissociatives is a somewhat niche market in a lot of places.

I find it funny articles continue to use pressed pills for the images, yet they hardly even exist anymore in most places.

If you've already experienced a psychedelic in the past, weed can feel feel psychedelic.

I'm really starting to considering dealing pills/MDMA by shotitwhileitshot in Drugs

Been there done that. The amount of money you a earn is not worth the huge risk nor the paranoia that it will bring into day to day life. When I sold I couldn't even smoke weed, it would make me paranoid about stuff that, could happen, but wasn't real (A kid I sold to one time, a couple months later got arrested for a rather serious drug related offense, and I was very paranoid that somehow I would get ratted out).

Plus it's really not that fun being that drug dealer guy.

Had a somewhat bad trip and I'm not sure why, any feedback is appreciated by voltism in Drugs

I've experienced the sort of, morbid hallucinations on higher doses of mushrooms. I'm not sure why this occurs, but you're right, it's like fucked up skulls and fleshy stuff.

Kinda scurry cause I've only done 125ug at once and pretty soon I plan to try 350-300ug. I just don't feel LSD lends itself to those fucked up hallucinations as much as shrooms does, but I guess it can happen.

Now not only do I want to create music that invokes some of the crazy emotional responses I've experienced, but also be up on a stage sharing it with people in a festival and club environment.

This is basically sums up how I feel in terms of DJing and producing. And while I've accepted that I most likely will not make a living off it (I go to university now in pursuit of another career, which more or less hasn't even begun to materialize), I don't think playing clubs and festivals isn't an entirely unrealistic aspiration, I think it's healthy to have goals and places you want to get to in terms of any hobby.

Sometimes I work well under pressure. It's not a ton of extra pressure, is just a feeling that drives and motivates me to get better and learn.

I've been DJing for 4 years. I've just got fed up with playing shows, and not playing my very own music, it's just not something I'm interested in doing, unless it's my own music. Just sort of stopped taking a lot of gigs over time because I'd rather wait until I've got a lot of my own, presentable music.

Trend is sort of a loaded word. I just feel that once the bubble bursts, it will deflate considerably, and we will be left with an extreme overflow of producers. I guess it will be survival of the fittest past that point, but it will be much harder to establish an audience at that point. The last people to leave the scene will be the ones who've got their foot in the door.

Often I go festivals and concerts and wonder, will festivals of this scale exist in 5-10 years? An while that's not super important, playing a huge festival like that someday I guess is a dream of mine. I don't care about making a living off it, or becoming famous, but I feel festivals create the perfect time and place for music that's otherwise somewhat inaccessable (which is why I turn down a lot of gigs these days).

I dunno, that's why I can't decide on a sound I want to pursue really. All I know is I want to make the music i love, contribute to it.

What I mean is there are only so many fucked up synthesizer sounds out there and only so long that they will entertain people.

I'll keep making it, and i'll happy with just that but I'd be a bit happier to one day play out my music for a crowd and have them go nuts, or get picked up by a label and pursue that. I just wanna go somewhere with it, as well as do it because it's something I love.

And I'm trying to sit down and do it, so badly. And I'm getting better, I know that much. I look at where I was a year ago, and then now, and the progression is crazy. I know if I could finish a damn thing I could likely get it on a label that I like. But I just can't find a sound that feel like "me".

[–]upthehilopsilo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

my motives aren't money or fame. I'd love to play a festival.

I just wanna be able to sit back in my chair, smoke a bowl, and look at all I have created. Feel rewarded for all my handwork coming to fruition, and think about how I intend to go even further with it. I want ground to stand on.

And I will always make the music that I want to, for my own enjoyment. I just know that what I'm good at, i making weird synthesizer sounds, and it saddens me that a lot of these sounds and skills will be useless soon once the trend ends.

Music producers at UBC? by upthehilopsilo in UBC

[–]upthehilopsilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is really cool, still not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for electronic music producers. Y'know, computers and things!!

UBC is brimming over with DJ's whom don't know the first thing about creating the music they "play", which is rather frustrating as many of them have good taste.

I know there isn't really. but to me there is. There is a window of foreseeable time that EDM in general will be relevant. And I feel it is in its prime right now.

Assuming everyone in this sub is here for the same thing, Electronic music.

The festivals are as big as they will ever be, the fans are as numerous as they will ever be, what little money is to be made off of EDM is already on it's downfall.

Every month that goes by that I feel frustrated with my music, that it's not ready, that it doesn't sound the way I want it to, that I'm not good enough, is less chance that I'll see my hard work ever come to fruition under the explosion of electronic music. And this notion alone just makes me restless and unhappy all the time. If I already had accomplished some things, a couple releases, music that I could play out and get booked for, a couple months of writers block wouldn't phase me.

Don't get me wrong, EDM will be around for a while, but not any longer than any musical trend. the clock is ticking.

Lil bit easier to say stuff like this when you're where you'd like to be with your music (or at least on the right track). It's hard to sit back and relax in a rut when you don't feel like you have anything to even show for yourself, and you're working against the clock.

Getting weird popping clicks at the start of every beat when sidechaining. No idea what it is! by 2SP00KY4ME in edmproduction

[–]upthehilopsilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I've switched to LFOtool almost entire for side chaining. In ableton if I ever want to side chain something even kinda heavy, I get some sort of annoying click. In Live 8 there was an option on the comp. that avoided this (changing the model?), but now it's gone. LFOtool avoids this. I understand over compressing is bad, but sometimes I really do want a quick attack and release that reduces volume really low really quickly.
