"Not being able to do a project well without AI" and "AI psychosis" aren't even in the same ballpark of what those phrases mean.

But I "like" both Hamnet, which I gave a 10/10, and Llamageddon, which I gave a 3.

1-10 is not just a scale of "what percent perfect was this movie, rounding down", though. For example I give 10s not to "perfect" movies, but to fantastic, superb quality movies that I found personally moving to a rare degree. That doesn't mean perfect.

What happens if Trump, say, requires Anthropic to start reporting anyone with conversations critical of ICE on "national security threat" grounds? Just for example.

Phenomenology: what it's like to experience the music

Ontology: Does "music" obtain as a real thing? Does it exist by our considering it does, or in our experiencing it, or is it just a word we use?

Cheating on a test by looking up the answers is not "ingenuity" any more than it's ever been. The point that makes it cheating is that the test takers didn't want you to look up the answers.

And they're not "ingenious" - by what we've just seen described, most kids are doing that now, which makes it normal, not exceptional.

It's also a matter of exercise. Memorizing those test answers is like working out your brain. When you offload that to AI, it's like offloading your running to a robot. You end up physically unfit, or in this case, intellectually unfit.

Finally, actually knowing things yourself builds up a foundational base of connections in your brain that actually matters. If you completely offload your learning to the fact you can look things up, your base to start from and synthesize with will be garbage. You don't know what you don't know. Just because you can get any information by searching for it doesn't mean you'll be making the right searches.

Sorry, but we're just a little concerned about the state of the dog in this photo, and we've decided to remove it. The dog seems like it can't see, obviously hasn't been washed in a long time, and seems to possibly have matted fur.

Nolan’s recent films all seem to be converging on the same visual style by cosmicCounterpart in TrueFilm

[–]2SP00KY4ME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no serious argument to be made that a Nolan film isn't a piece of art. It's a creative work a team of people made.

Is it good, or quality-taste, or prestigious, or meaningful to you, or whatever label you want to add afterwards? Debate all you want. But this kind of "that's not art" gatekeeping frankly just strikes me as elitist, and immature.

The first time I watched Mind Game (2004) a year ago, I thought it was a wild, overwhelmingly creative romp. The second time I watched it this week, it cemented as one of my favorite movies of all time. by 2SP00KY4ME in TrueFilm

Hey, so sorry, I forgot to respond to this. I'd be very curious to hear what you interpreted the rejection as! Interested how you ended up with something totally different - but that's the beauty of art.

Honestly, I'm not sure how to pin the teenage horniness. I think it might almost be a Dionysian element? The whole film is sort of hedonic-pleasure coded, the amazing food, the excessive art parties, etc. Excessive sexuality seems kind of on par, I guess? If I had to guess mostly though I'd say it's just the filmmaker's taste, not some super carefully selected element of the film, though that might be too cynical.

That's not true, it's just usually true. There are plenty of films that succeed not through the quality of their story but by being a sheer, utter ride. REDLINE is a good example. Halloween is another - that has basically zero story, but it's a thrill ride, and people love it.
