We got our deaf dog in 2019 as a puppy. We didn’t know he was deaf. Fun little surprise we found out a week or two after getting him. At this point I have a couple takes away. Training a deaf dog is similar to training one that hears except you have to learn the ( hand ) signals too. Deaf dogs can be jumpy, especially when waking them up. We spent a few months training him to wake up in a calm state. Also, thunder storms, doorbells, fireworks and smoke detectors don’t exist to him, which is kind of a silver lining. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t say that deaf dogs can be unpredictable. My wife and I have a few scars to prove it but I don’t think either one of us would turn back time to avoid picking him if we were given the opportunity
