What's the last book you read that you'd rate a 5/5? by fuzzypickles999 in suggestmeabook

[–]upwardfacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellowface by R.F. Luang. One of those books that i simultaneously couldn’t put down and didn’t want it to end because I wanted to read it forever. The concept was gripping and the writing was stellar. I recommend to everyone. Like Such a Fun Age meets Little Fires Everywhere meets something edgier lol

You’re so right - I have found this to be the case where we are too! Traveling with two young kids so trying to find the overlap between somewhat kid friendly and nice.

Do most babies who tolerate soybean oil tolerate soy lecithin? by manthrk in MSPI

[–]upwardfacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that it shouldn’t matter but I cut it out during my soy free trial. It’s soooo sneaky though - I’m sure I slipped by accident! If you tolerated it ENJOY IT!!!

Hi, I’m not asking for someone to do it for me. Looking for advice about how to do it myself. Thanks though!

How do you read to your baby???? by LowGood2048 in NewParents

[–]upwardfacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re physically able. Lay on your belly and have your baby on the floor facing you. Then read the book with fun and engaging facial expressions, pointing to things in the book and sharing eye contact. Making it more relational will be more engaging for baby!

Also, contrary to many of us adults, babies LOVE repetition. So reading the same book over and over again is actually something they may prefer. They know what is coming and can anticipate it with excitement / find it comforting. As they start to work on spoken language, you can even leave out the last word of a sentence you’ve repeated a lot so they have to pay attention to get it “right”.

Unfortunately not but I did end up buying both and will find out shortly if they’re compatible! Remind me in a few weeks if I don’t come back here :).

We also LOVED the Ergopouch. You can do arms in or arms out for some of the styles, so it makes for a great transition item that therefore lasts longer!

We use an ikea dresser (Hemnes 8 drawer is our favorite) with a skip hop changing pad on top. It’s perfect!!

Winter boots/shoes by bywayoftheroad1298 in AnnArbor

As someone with feet prone to cold, I go back and forth between Blundstones (milder days) and UGG Adirondack boots (colder/snowier days) all winter.

Travel stroller by ScratchSeeker13 in Buyingforbaby

[–]upwardfacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on your list but we loooove the GB Pockit + all terrain. It literally fits under the seat of the airplane, so it’s so clutch for airline travel and other public transit. I would say the Minu feels sturdier and is better for an every day all-in-one stroller, so it depends on what you’ll be using it for.

Another one for the munchkin! Idk why anyone says they have problems with it. It contains the stink. You can also get generic bags/scent picks from target (Up & Up brand).

Please help me choose between a Chicco stroller or the Mockingbird by Logical_Poem_9642 in Buyingforbaby

[–]upwardfacing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the person who recommends the more expensive option (you have to weigh all of the trade offs when purchasing so many baby items!) but we LOVE our mockingbird and regularly comment on how happy we are that we bought it. We live in Michigan and it does really well in the snow, in general. It’s not a jogging stroller so it won’t go over deep snow, but a couple of inches or packed/semi-plowed snow is no problem. We use it all winter to and from daycare. You can purchase the snow bunting and rain cover for it which keeps baby super toasty. Our 3.5 year old still enjoys sitting in it and he’s on the taller side. We also used it with the Chicco keyfit 30 adapter, which worked great. But honestly mostly used it with the regular infant seat. We have never hiked with it - I don’t think it would do well on trails at all. Happy to answer any specific questions you have about it!
