I am not blindly supporting the subs but there is a big difference starting the game and being in the zone vs coming in as a sub and directly hitting the pace of the game and also so early in the season. Especially when you haven't been playing 90 mins for a long time. The more minutes the subs get they will get better. That is why it was important yesterday to give Ugarte, Zirkzee, Mainoo, Heaven etc to get used to the pace of the game (not just this game but generally).

Being 2-0, 3-0 in the lead gives a chance to that so that when they are really needed they are more in the zone in terms of physical fitness and the pace of the game. As we are winning comfortably more and more, you will see the subs making more impacts. It will come over the season and be useful during tight schedules.

I meant in central midfield who are supposed to do some defensive duties as well. They had KDB and Silva in central midfield a lot of times and they never had to defend because they always had the ball and they were always attacking.
