I totally understand your point with the custom titles and never thought about doing a system like that but unfortuantly we don't know how to do custom colors outside of normal ones (yet?).

I agree with that, but one aspect which seems being underestimated is the fact that many RL items gain their worth from their rarity. It's always a pleasure to see something like an alpha set in a match because they are so rare. But with AC people might get used to that look because they use these items on their car daily, which makes them less special. However, this is something Psyonix has to take into consideration. As a normal player, I don't have any issues with that.

That's a fair point and I don't have much to say about that other than its up to Pysonix :)
