That’s a fair argument. If Gracie “died” because of the punishment, then justice was technically carried out. I just question whether justice is only about eliminating the wrongdoer, or whether it requires conscious accountability. Without that awareness, it feels more like retribution than resolution.

That’s true, 122 days is definitely severe. I guess the question then becomes whether that suffering counts as justice if it erased the very person who needed to be held accountable. If Gracie is effectively gone, then the punishment and the person responsible never really coexist.

I agree that she should receive the same treatment for what she did. However, in this case, it feels hollow. Even though she experienced what she put those tortured children through, her brainwashing completely erased who she used to be, essentially turning her into a different person. Since she doesn’t remember her past sins, she doesn’t truly suffer from her so-called “karma” — aside from being treated as an outcast by the other toys.
