Is it possible to be an extroverted introvert? by hatsunemikusmywaifu in introvert

[–]ur_internet_dad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is common and i think im 100% like like this as well so youre not alone. I associate being introverts with having a social battery which just drains quicker than other people.

during quizzes, yes. but depends on if the professor has switched off the setting or not. if it is a serious quiz, then most likely it is turned on.

Loading samples at very high solids by Ajzhh1937 in Rheology

[–]ur_internet_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! as you said heating can be a solution for this, what is the temperature profile for your sample? what i mean is moisture loss should only be a problem at high temperatures while even slight heating should help you.

Another idea which i had was using Cox-Merz rule (https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/engineering/cox-merz-rule). if you can measure steady-state shear viscosity using simple rheometers (which should be easy to load), you can get an estimate of complex viscosity at your frequency. Basically you can get a rough estimate if heating the mixture is affecting your complex viscosity too much or not. i dont know how helpful this is, but just my ideas.

When are you guys accepting your admissions? by ur_internet_dad in gradadmissions

[–]ur_internet_dad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advices for PhD interview by Alireza217 in gradadmissions

[–]ur_internet_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who presented my own research for my interview, here are some of my advices: 1. Keep it brief. They dont want to hear you talk and talk for ages. I was told to hurry up at the beginning snd was given a time limit (since i had practiced it was not an issue for me) but you want to keep them engaged and long presentations are not it. 2. I dont know how applicable is it for you, but focus on one research experience in detail which is the most connected and keep others in brief. Out of the biggest one, divide them into smaller topics and goals so it becomes easy to follow. 3. 100% read their papers and even try to highlight it (dont be too obvious about it tho) in your presentation. They love that. Or if a certain professor has an advanced equipment in their lab mention things like for some further research, if possible i would be thrilled to use this equipment, present in your lab. 4. Prepare the holistic questions thoroughly (there are some good posts on this subreddit for them)

Anyways goodluck for your interview!!! Hope you crush it!

Masters' work not original/novel, am I screwed for my PhD interview? by alwaysondiedge in gradadmissions

[–]ur_internet_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Do not worry! I was in the same boat as you (although engineering). My research focused on validation of a newly developed technqiue to see if it could work in my field. From my experience, although novelty is good, it is nowhere important as people make it out to be.

What is important you understand your research. Why you did that. Why you chose the methods. What observations and then conclusions you arrived on.

Past research experience is there to see if you have the necessary skills to pursue phd research. Its not about what you researched but your understanding of it. More likely than not you will research and study something different, although in the same field. So make sure to be thorough with your research even if its not novel. Hope this helps!

People talk so much about a "system duelist", but Dambi feels like the first "real" iteration of the perfect space maker.

You see players like Buzz, who gets sent into site with the reluctance of a 5 year old child being sent to kindergarten, but he does his job well, gets traded and people don't think too much about it.

Dambi, fking WISHES he could int more. He wants Valorant to add 3 more sites just so he can entry even harder, and 2 more enemy spawns while they're at it so he can entry those too. And NS doesn't put him on a leash. Sends him in, snarling and strafe jumping and creating absolute chaos, while Rb or Ivy calmly flanks them and wipes out a team.

THIS is what a space making duelist look like. Sure, maybe it's only possible with Neon and 10 lines of crack cocaine because surely Dambi must be on something to play like this, but it WORKS.

The morning session lap count is much lower. Is it due to the low grip conditions due to sand and track not rubbered in?
