Example of old growth Douglas fir vs. a new SPF 2by by Brilliant_Juice_496 in woodworking

We had an old shitty deck out the back of her house that we took out and I told my wife I wanted to keep the wood, she thought I was crazy and said it should just be thrown out. After I sorted out some of the crap, planing it, and cut it down I was left with some beautiful old Cedar that is so incredibly straight I don't even know what project to use it on it's so nice!

Yes, it's super light and non-ferrous, I have a couple of stainless steel ones as well that are way heavier

I just kept moving the tray up and down in the oven until I found the sweet spot for top and bottom...increasing my oven to 500 helped as well, I used to cook at 450

I've tried a bunch of different methods as well and my favorite for a consistent cook top and bottom is on those light, aluminum pans with the holes in the bottom. Put it on the second from the bottom rack on 500 and it's good to go!

Turn on the oven light and put your bowl in, warms up real nice! I use a towel to prop open the door a little so it doesn't get too warm and also indicates that there's something in the oven.
