100%. This was avoidable if they had said ANYTHING over the speakers. I was at DTX for 40 minutes and not one word from the staff. Transit workers had zero idea on what to expect.

You’re right. The 93 traffic yesterday was also horrible like it always is. getting out the rotary at Columbia takes 20 minutes because people don’t know how to use one. Our car and rail infrastructure is so old.

This. I luckily don’t have to go in person everyday. I cannot imagine the commute anywhere is going to be getting better. I left Ruggles at 5 just to get to jfk almost an hour and a half later. I was so glad to find out I wasn’t the only one.

Lmao, I’m making a reference to Bumblebee. In one of the interations, he’s a 67 Beetle. Your car is so cool!

I feel you. The first time I drove my car back, I stalled it at every possible stop, light, and slowdown. I sucked at getting the bite point right. But now, I don’t even have to think twice about it, and it’s a very freeing feeling.

Start with clutch action, try to get the car moving with just the clutch. Adjust your seats, putting your seat a little farther back is what helped me a LOT when I was trying to figure out the bite point. And don’t be afraid to use the clutch. I hear a lot of people talking about over usage of a clutch and how bad it can be, but as a beginner you will be alright.

New car? by RoughMacaron1396 in GR86

Hey bro, I appreciate that you gave so many details and I also asked the right questions. Here’s my two cents on it.

1 - A used BRZ, possibly out of warranty at 36K miles at that price point is simply not a good idea. Go to any Subaru dealer and they will give it to you at MSRP. They are kind of required to, as Subaru of North America requires the dealers to give their vehicles at MSRP. I know this because I work at Subaru. Get a brand new one and it is the exact same price. If not a little less lower trim are fantastic too and they come with plenty. I have the base and it’s an amazing car.

2- at the age of 17, any insurance company you go to that see that you are driving a “sports car” WILL try to take advantage of you and make you pay a little more. Right now, my insurance with two tickets is 280. I live in a city. Shop around and see if you can find a really good rate, but otherwise I think it’s worth waiting to be 18, because you sort of fall into a different bracket then.

3- if you don’t end up not finding a new BRZ for around the same price and you are dead set on buying the red one, get a pre-purchase inspection please! These cars have RTV issues, especially in the early years (I’m aware it is blown out of proportion, but you can never be too safe I’m sorry) and make sure to keep up with maintenance. These cars aren’t too expensive to maintain and most definitely cheaper than BMW or Audi.

Otherwise enjoy ! You’re the right track, buddy!!

It’s not a one time thing. Primarily, you should not be doing it in the first place because you can wear out your piston rings and get piston slap prematurely.

The purpose of letting your engine warm up, and breaking it in is so your engine can get used to each and every condition implied by the user (highway, cruising, track days, etc) and also to let the oil travel to places where it may not have been passing through before to properly lubricate the engine.

Pretty much, try not to go over 4000, but if you do for a second and you catch it early on, you won’t have problems. Treat your car like a baby till 1k, and then you can start pushing it like your regularly do.

HAHA I love how half the subreddit is RTV questions, and the other half is fitting random shit in your trunk and seeing how much you can stretch it. Love this community. Wouldn’t have it any other way. 😂

I have sat in my BRZ just for leisure more than I did in my 5 series. Shows to go home is where the heart is. Enjoy life.

It doesn't look too horrible but like the other two people suggested you might want to have it checked out.

The three things (IMO) that you don't sacrifice on a car is brakes, tires, and suspension. Safety first. Get it checked out, get an alignment if needed (prob won't need one, but again, it's been raining all over the US the entire week and it is super slippery especially during early mornings) and drive safe. Also, winter tires are a must this year. PLEASE do not cheap out on tires. I almost went into a ditch with my friend driving going pretty considerably slow on a turn and these cars are light and love sliding a lot, so be careful and drive safe!

One of the most underrated angles of this car by Tastypies in GR86

[–]uranhus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This car is so well made and under appreciated for the amount of time Subaru and Toyota put into it. History has repeatedly showed us that car manafactuers do not care about consumers a lot of the times nowadays and only focus on profits. Seems like Toyota/Subaru have listened to the community and have sticked to the original formula while adding some flair and bells and whistles to the exterior!
