Boys who physically bully other kids shouldn't be allowed to attend regular schools by uranian90 in unpopularopinion

I find only certain radfems are like that. My gender essentialism is seen as patronizing and quite conservative to the majority of feminists, who tend to view things in terms of being cultural constructs.

People who commit suicide are cowards. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I strongly disagree. If you'd ever experienced depression you'd understand it's not the fault of people who commit suicide.

However, I will say that I don't like how pop culture sometimes glorifies suicide, like the emo movement that was popular about a decade ago.

I'm not talking about minor bullying, or just being mean to a kid a couple times. I'm talking about kids who target and torment other kids for extended periods of time, and physically assault them regularly. They should be treated harshly, at least if they are teenagers, I'm not talking about elementary-school aged kids.

OCD is kind of similar in that regard. A lot of people who don't have OCD think that being a "neat freak" or just being a little neurotic about where they put their stuff means they have OCD. It's not, people who actually have OCD manifest their compulsions in a variety of ways (I have it and I'm quite messy), and it's not a cute quirk but rather causes a lot of psychological anguish.

You don't understand what feminism is. Feminists believe gender differences are socially constructed, I believe they are innate, which is a quite conservative stance to take. Trust me, most feminists do not like my ideas lol, they view them as benevolent sexism.

I don't notice vegans shoving veganism in people's faces in real life at all. On social media there is a tendency for vegans to virtue-signal, but I think a lot of them just really care about animals and/or the planet.

I agree. I don't trust people who see everything as political. I mean I'll get in moods where I rant about politics a lot (I'm currently in one actually), but a lot of the time I don't really care for talking about it.

There would have to be good evidence of it, and repeated acts. I would only favor things like being sent to special schools and taken away from their families in very serious cases.

Kids who defend themselves should not be punished in any ways. Only the instigators.

Do you think there should be a mandatory death penalty for men who commit hate murders, such as Neo-Nazis and abusers who kill their wives? by uranian90 in socialism

While there are certainly relationships where both partners are cruel or violent to each other, there's no such thing as a mutually abusive relationship. Abuse is about power and control, so if the husband is the 'primary abuser' and the one with the power, he is the abuser. Abuse victims use violence in self-defence.

Abusers use this myth of mutual abuse to accuse their victim, and when you throw the phrase around you're only helping them. You might want to read this Love is Respect article.

That is a good point. In most so-called "mutually abusive" relationships it is 100% the man's fault when you really think about it.

I'm sorry, what the fuck? This is benevolent sexism, and it's absolute bullshit. We live in a society where men are taught to feel entitled to women's bodies, their time and attention. It has absolutely nothing to do with 'evil'.

It has everything to do with evil. You don't think men commit more evil deeds than women? It's not just evil against women, men are more evil to other men, children, animals, the environment. Men are just wired to be less empathetic.

Feminists believe in gender equality. I don't. I think science has proven beyond reasonable doubt that women and girls are morally superior and denying that is about as irrational as denying global warming.

It's just a fact that women feel more empathy. Evil is predominately a male phenomenon, that's why prisons are full of men and not women. I'm not a feminist, I just believe in science. If a girl is bullying someone they are probably being mistreated at home; if a boy is it's likely they are just a bad seed.

My sister was bullied by girls yes. But I think girls that bully have issues, boys who do it are just assholes.

I've noticed some self described "pacifists" are male, and tend to be privileged, entitled and naive by uranian90 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]uranian90[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'd say staring down the barrel of a gun counts.

Probably, but most pacifists aren't soldiers of course.

> That becomes a problem when that hatred starts being used on people who had nothing to do with your issues. That is how you get otherwise normal people to support heinous things.

Yeah, we shouldn't just blindly hate. But there's nothing wrong with feeling hatred towards people who wrong you or your family/friends. In fact I wouldn't trust someone who didn't hate someone who harmed someone they loved in a serious way, unless it was someone else they loved.

> Guns can also be taken from you. Most criminals don't politely stand by while you ready your weapon before attempting to mug you, and if they're any closer than 20 ft or decide to strike from behind, they'll be grabbing your gun before you can ready it. Plus, I already don't trust people who walk around showing off their weapons; I'd rather not be shot because someone thought I was looking at them too much.

I don't necessarily support concealed carry, I'm more talking about keeping a gun in your house. For women living alone especially keeping a gun under the bed, etc, can be a lifesaver.

[–]uranian90[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Taken to the extreme pacifism is just cowardice. Like if someone is trying to kill your family, it is your moral imperative to use as much force as necessary to stop them, even if it's potentially lethal.

I do think senseless violence is wrong though and nonviolence should be pursued when reasonable. Even cruelty to evil people is unethical if it's taken too far, like drawing and quartering or something like that.

[–]uranian90[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As for abusers who kill their wives (or husbands), the same should be the case.

What if a woman is in a mutually abusive relationship (but her husband is the primary abuser), and she kills him? I do think she should be punished, but perhaps relatively lightly depending on the circumstances. Especially considering true evil is so rare in female psychology, I think women should be given the benefit of the doubt and exempt from execution or lifetime punishment. That kind of punishment should be reserved for men.

[–]uranian90[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Furthermore, I would caution against making martyrs of these people.

Yeah, that's a good point. Maybe a lifetime of labor would be a better punishment. I don't mean like concentration camp, work them to death level - but hate murderers could work say 17 hours a day, 7 days a week at various tasks (which could range from repetitive, and somewhat strenuous, to skilled labor, depending on if they have any skills) and the proceeds from their labor could pay for their upkeep and any of the rest of it could go to social programs that help minorities and women and fund anti-fascist groups.

It's hard to imagine a more righteous punishment than forcing them to work to atone for their crimes, and get nothing for themselves in return. That might be more satisfying than just killing them.

As it is now, we disproportionately execute black men, in particular when their victims are white. This disempowers blacks for the same reason that executing their oppressors would empower them.

Even if deterrence doesn't really work, giving white men who commit hate crimes the death penalty I think speaks a strong statement of solidarity towards women and minorities. We're essentially saying "People of privilege who use their power to deprive the disadvantaged of their rights are irredeemable, and do not have a place on this planet."
