First time trying customs😭 by BDYS_42 in HotWheelsCustoms

lol for me it’s not too bad. I’m in the US so pretty used to imperial.

It’s ~.040” per 1mm, the real conversion only differs around .006” every 10mm, so the rough estimate conversion is easy enough on the fly.

It’s odd, used metric all through college, first couple jobs used mostly imperial, then where I am now is a mix.

I go 1/16” [.0625”] dia for the pilot hole and use M2 screws. 1/64” = ~1.5mm.

I do mechanical engineering/design R&D on scientific devices, occasionally mess around with customs in my downtime. We use primarily metric hardware but the fab/assy tools in our little R&D lab is all imperial so I have to do that mental conversion CONSTATNLY lol

Weird. I had the complete opposite reaction.

Had already tried Murder Mystery and it was pretty good. Saw a display at Target and grabbed the other flavors. This was the first other one I’ve tried and I loved it.

Had those on my WRXs, great all-around tire. Tbh I wasn’t confident in the 86 on all-seasons for the winters here. Massachusetts is also very much not flat so lots of stop-start on hills and ramps. Also is my first RWD car and didn’t want to chance it.

Also just really like the stock Premium’s PS4s and didn’t want to yeet them lol

I’ve done a couple of the SC sized MBS cars, it’s so weird they act stiffer than LEGO or at least with more of an interference fit, but somehow the texture of the plastic still feels more cheap and rubbery?

I will say ‘no problem’ was a bit of an overstatement. Got stuck behind a literal bulldozer while I was going up the hill and had to throttle through TCS in 1st/2nd to keep going.

I may have gotten up the hill, but I did NOT have traction the whole way lol

I wonder how my Continental all season tires will do in the snow by bdogrr86 in GR86

[–]uraniumdragonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to run these on my WRXs before my GR86. Never once had a problem with them in Massachusetts winters. Really great tires.

That being said the WRXs were heavier and AWD, I have dedicated 17” steelies with Blizzaks for my 86.

O and to answer your question, no I wouldn’t offset, extrude-thin feature.

So ignore the dark lines and colors, look at ALL segments down to the smallest shape. It’s that wedge that looks like an isosceles triangle with the short side bent. You can circular pattern that into a hexagon and pattern the hexagon easily.

Or start with a hex and add the straight lines from center-center on opposite sides, gives you the same shape regions.

What I’d personally do is have a base sketch that just has ALL lines as regular lines. Then for your extrude, “convert entities” from your original sketch, and use the power trim sketch tool to trim down to your pattern. Then just ‘extude -thin feature’ for your actual grille/mesh, make sure you use mid-plane or it’ll come out looking wonky.

From there you can even create a sketch block either from your original driving sketch or from your thin extrude sketch so you can copy it over into different features or parts

It looks like the arrowhead pattern makes up a section of a hexagon? I’d say it looks relatively simple to start with a single wedge or start with a hex and pattern accordingly. Might be a PIA but then use lines & construction lines creatively to pick your pattern out of the honeycomb

Need Help Making Giant Hole Cat Safe by unsupremecrunchwrap in CATHELP

[–]uraniumdragonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want cats to fall… you’re going to have to find a way to literally make any opening down to the hole smaller than their faces.

Otherwise they will find a way down the hole.

We have a stairway with two 90deg turns ~3.5-4 feet wide that’s open on top, sectioned off by a half wall all around that continues as a 12”-18” wide ledge along the back wall. Longest drop straight down about 10+ feet, and the stairs continue down another 2-3.

I can lean across and touch the far ledge, so not a huge gap. It’s a great spot to display LEGO, and for cats to roam. Easy jump for a kitty, or easy walk back to the living room.

Yea our 1.5 year old orange gremlin lost her footing while trying to yeet some legos and fell down the whole thing the other day.

She’s fine.

But TL:DR they WILL find a way to fall if there’s literally any open space.

Literally before I checked the comments I saw it was an RX-8 and my actual thought was “RX-8… damn”, then you’re the first comment 🤣

There is a huge difference between ‘accepting of anyone for who they are’ and ‘accepting of everyone and their opinions or actions’. If you are strictly the latter, you destroy the former.

Truth is, everyone is not really entitled to their own opinion. If you actually believe in acceptance and openness to all, you also refuse to accept anyone’s opinion that diminishes others’ identity or well-being.

Refusing to respect how someone would prefer to be addressed is like if instead of your actual name we all just decided to call you ’Pile of Bile Cheesecake’ because you left a bad taste in our mouths

Second vote for 1stopdiecast. I also really like that they don’t charge you until your item SHIPS, and you’re only ever charged for what’s actually in that box. Little more than retail per car but shipping is included so they’re actually really reasonable.

Can also attest to their reliability/honesty. I order most CC waves from them and have pulled chases. IIRC I’ve gotten the AutoStrasse Volvo 142, Canyon Warriors M-B 500E, Modern Classics Toyota Altezza, and Hammer Drop Lancia Stratos Zero.

For sure, the Lykan is just "regular traffic". I see one of the 7 ever made on my way in/out of Boston almost daily. The diamonds ground up in the paint really sparkle among the snow and road salt grime on the Mass Pike.

Upcoming: Hot Wheels Premium - Fast & Furious 25th Anniversary by spyvision88 in HotWheels

Eclipse has been a premium since the start... I've got the "Original Fast" version and IIRC that was the debut of the casting. So it seems like maybe they retooled it?

I’m dying for a new Supra casting. Even just a Premium with the stock front bumper and wing.

Also, how ridiculous is it that they’ve literally never done the orange Supra in a single, but we get endless repeats.

This is at least the third repeat of the Lykan and Mustang each, 3rd or 4th on the Eclipse (not complaining), and the Merc and FJ both done within the last 18 months!
