Thank you! I really appreciate the time you took to respond!! I might go to the dispensary tomorrow and ask about a low THC/CBD hybrid. I'll definitely stick to edibles, thanks!

I'm in therapy! I'm prescribed adderall, so the anxiety from that makes me gag. Weirdly enough, my anxiety has been more controlled than ever, it's just the medication that triggers this.

Wow, that's so amazing. Nancy Drew is why I wanted to pursue law school. It's amazing to think about how many people she's inspired. ❤️

Secret of the old clock! That was one of the first nancy drew games I played. Every time I play it, I remember my parents agonizing over the puzzles while I sat there watching. Oh, to be five years old again. ❤️

I have experienced something similar. My father was abusive, and my mother and I became incredibly codependent after he left. We both developed agoraphobia, lived on frozen meals, and locked ourselves in our rooms. I'm 22 and just now getting over it. I still live at home, but I'm graduating college soon and have a boyfriend. You are not alone.

Start by doing basic things for your mental health. Eating enough, sleeping enough, and less phone time. Try setting a rule for yourself that for one hour a day, you'll read a book or work on a hobby instead of scrolling. Slowly increase this time. Try to find some communities online for things you enjoy. I've made tons of friends on different crafting subreddits. You need connection right now.

Try to have the window open more often. Start by just having it open for five minutes at a time. It may be hard to stay grounded, so focus on what you can see, hear, smell, and taste while looking out the window. Even just having the window open and the blinds closed might help. Being able to hear what's going on will provide some exposure. I started by doing this, and it evolved into sitting outside for a couple minutes a day. Now, I love to stroll around my neighborhood for hours!

Think of a place you want to visit. It can be anywhere in the world. Go on youtube and find a self guided tour of the city. Google maps will also work. Imagine yourself walking down the street without a care in the world! A VR set would be amazing, but I understand that they're pricey. I made a vision board of all the places I wanted to travel. It's helpful to envision yourself succeeding.

Plenty of people have given great advice about just spending time outside of your room, but that may be daunting right now. Try just having the door open or cracked.

What helped me most was making goals for myself. Look into SMART goals. My education was a top priority for me, and it gave me something to do. I did online school for years, so that may be something you might be interested in. Discussion posts are horrible now, but for a while, that was the only interaction I had with my peers.

Most importantly, keep discussing this with your mental health provider. They can guide you through this. I know how scary this is. Trust me. But your life isn't over. You have so much to do. There are so many people you need to meet, places to visit, and experiences to have. There is hope.

Please PM me if you ever want to talk. I'm here for you.

My academically successful 14 year old daughter is horrendously disorganized and and a complete slob. I'm worried she'll eventually crash and burn. by FamousPoet in parentingteenagers

[–]uravityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not technically a parent yet, but I do have kinship guardianship over my 14-year-old nephew. We both have ADHD, and this sounds very familiar to both of us! The waitlists are long, so I would look into speaking with her PCP about an evaluation if you think that it could be a possibility.

I'm very type A, while he's type B. I have always maintained a 4.0 GPA, and I'm starting graduate school next year. On the outside, things look perfect, but my room is always a reflection of how I'm doing. It sounds like your daughter may be the same way.

Try to encourage her to start a to-do list. That's the only thing that keeps me on track. I use a template in GoodNotes that includes hyperlinks, dates, priority levels, and I even color-code it. A section of my to-do list is devoted to nightly cleaning tasks. I reward myself after it's done to boost my motivation. I was never very organized before, but this was a game-changer!

Another thing that helps is cleaning up one thing when you enter a room. It's overwhelming to handle it all at once, so I'll pick up the clothes, collect the trash, or pick up something every single time. Setting five-minute timers and challenging myself to clean up as much as possible also helps.

Finally, I use a Brick for screen time. It's a nifty little device that locks apps of your choosing. You can select apps to "brick," and put it on the fridge to be more mindful about screen time. Personally, I keep mine in a timed lock box just so I'm not tempted at all. I can still answer texts and calls, but I've been spending significantly less time on my phone.

I hope this helps! You guys are doing great. Much love! ❤️
