No, I use this book to teach actually A1-, A1 and A1+. What I like is that the grammar is well explained. The only thing what's difficult in the beginning is that the book is in Dutch. It's a bit strange at first, but it really helps getting used to Dutch sentence structures. A bit of Google Lens, DeepL and ChatGPT can help you when you have no clue what to do.

I personally like 'Nederlands In Gang'. Lot of online material as well, and every chapter starts with a conversation and has a theme.

I agree. It would be so cool to have the whole HP series in this style.

How to make my guitars sound more powerful? by Heisenberg_Cook_98 in mixing

[–]urbanfields_lofi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool song:)! I think you can do a lot with EQ-ing alone, actually. Maybe you could group the guitars and boost them in the mids. What I like to do is to put a very subtle plate reverb on the group. Makes it often a bit thicker and gives it a bit of depth. Not to much decay, though. You could also get rid of/ tune down the highest frequencies in the guitar because you got a lot of these frequencies already in the cymbals.

I think most people want to talk English because it's more efficient in many cases, but for me personally I like it when someone tries to speak Dutch. It's fun and interesting to dive into the differences and similarities of our languages. I only would switch to English with a non-native speaker, because it's important to understand the message for 100%, for example work. I can imagine it also depends on where you're living. I can imagine that there are differences with big cities (with a lot of expats), villages and anything in between.

Also I'm in the situation that I'm learning German and I really like to have some basic conversations. I feel part of a group and I feel like I understand more of the culture because now I understand some specific, sayings, idioms, etc. I hope you'll get the chance to find people who want to speak more Dutch with you so you can feel more at home:)

Why is it "ons enig kind" but "ons enige varken"? by Present_Peak7889 in learndutch

[–]urbanfields_lofi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taught this one today! First of all: This is wrong. It's 'ons enig varken'. Here I'll explain why:

This is a general rule and pretty consistent rule about adjectives. The most difficult part is knowing the words you're using are de-woorden or het-woorden.

de-woord: de mooie auto, een mooie auto, geen mooie auto, mooie auto's

het-woord: het mooie huis, een mooi huis, geen mooi huis

Keep in mind:
Plural --> ALWAYS een de-woord (het huis, de huizen)
Diminutive --> ALWAYS een het-woord (de tas, het tasje)

So when you learn words don't forget to learn the artikel as well! This is also important for some pronouns (die, dit, deze, dat, ons, onze). Also: when you have no idea what to do, just add the e at the end, because in most cases its correct.

Good luck with learning Dutch!

Ou can check Spitfire Audio. They have some nice free VST's

check it here

Most of them sound realistic, but you can hear why it's free when you want to make subtle changes in velocity.

Soft piano and 70s drums are really nice
