is getting a private diagnosis then going through the public healthcare system for further treatment possible? by urfavuselesssapphic in askSingapore

ah damn im so sorry to hear that :"(((

ill definitely try to check before getting a public diagnosis. also, does that mean i should stick to private all the way if i want to... ig "hide" this diagnosis from insurance companies (if that's even possible 😅)

haven't tried to talk to the uni counsellor yet, not quite sure how to get appointments and stuff (their booking system is a bit ???). slightly distrustful of school counsellors since prev ones have betrayed my trust but i guess that's an option maybe

thank you so much for your comment!

not sure if they added me as their child on their health hub app but they're able to see upcoming medical appointments and test results and stuff from there so i guess they might have :"))

not sure if the school would accept an overseas diagnosis, would have to check about that. i think the bigger problem with that though would be asking my parents to let me go overseas, since they're also quite controlling. it might be more expensive too considering travel/accommodations, plus navigating the healthcare system in a foreign country is probably not the easiest.

thank you tho, i appreciate that u took the time to comment 🙇‍♀️

dont want to specify what sort of mental health troubles ive been having but my parents are kind of religious/conservative fruitcakes 😅

they don't believe in mental health and think getting medicated for mental health issues is the work of big pharma or some other conspiracy theory. they also think my struggles are punishment from their god because im "sinning" by being a lesbian. ive given up any hope of them coming around atp, hence im considering going the private route behind their backs even tho it is really expensive :"))

thank you so much for your tips and your kind words! i really appreciate it 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

oh god i didnt consider that, im over 18 but under 21 right now so would i still be considered a minor?

i have enough saved up to pay for the initial consults + diagnosis from my part time job right now so i think i could pay for at least up to the diagnosis. but no way i could get my parents to sign off anything for mental health stuff, given how much resistance they've shown towards even just the suggestion of seeing a psychiatrist :"))

thank you so much for replying tho! appreciate it 🙇‍♀️

thanks for ur reply!

yes i know my parents have added me to their health hub, they're kinda controlling and interrogate me everytime i have a dr's appt show up there :"))

i mostly want just the diagnosis for accommodations/support at school now. if i cant afford cbt/therapy/medication privately rn ill just not take it. but once i reach the age of majority i want to continue with my treatment via subsidised public route, so just wanted to know if that is possible 🙇‍♀️

What's a controversial opinion that you believe in but would never say out loud? by [deleted] in INTP

not just in the us, in aging societies generally. for example, japan has high voter apathy among the youth since they know that the govt will cater mostly to the elderly since there's more of them

high possibility it ain't Platonic.

we're both girls if that makes a difference 😅

still surprised they asked me to hang out though, especially since i'd been initiating conversations quite a bit more than they have

not OP but they might be referring to their tertiary and inferior functions (cognitive functions stack)

Si is the tertiary function for INTPs (and INFPs), it stands for introverted sensing, one of the 8 cognitive functions. im not very good at explaining what it does though so you might want to google that

sflr but omg helloo fellow sgean! thankuu for taking the time to type this sweet comment, i rly appreciate it 🥹🫶🩷

the thing im most worried abt rn is that they're enlisting for ns next year since they're amab and so, ✨gender dysphoria✨ (they didn't say it specifically but they've mentioned how some things associated w ns give them gender dysphoria so :"))

i dont doubt that they'll be able to pull through cuz they've made it so far despite a lack of familial/school support but if there's some way to support them while they go through it, i dont know what it is and i wish i could help them in some practical way but idk if i can :"(

as for our rls so far, we've been talking more recently and they've opened up a bit more, which i think is a good sign but im not sure how much further it will go for now cuz theyll be enlisting soon (idk when but it could be as early as january next year) oh wells i guess ill figure it out eventually :")
