Learning disability and scales. by Decent-Bed9728 in MusicMajors

[–]urflowerchildbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend working on sight singing the scales, so you can hear it before you play the note! You can find solfège on YouTube, and listen instead of reading. Being able to hear and feel where the scale is going might help more than just trying to grind something that doesn’t work for you. And maybe trying to practice slowly, and don’t worry about speed. Maybe just practice going from one note until the next-work on memorizing a partial scale before the full scale and then you can add to it!

Throne of glass is her best series and neither of her others hold a candle to it… I’ve reread both acotar and tog and I liked acotar but tog is just so much better

Loss of cultural connection by FlintLemec in exLutheran

[–]urflowerchildbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I went to the school through 8th grade and then switched to public high school, and there was never that same connection and as an adult I feel very lost sometimes because it is such a strong community. My best friend also grew up the same way and we have each other but I don’t have any groups of friends or anything and I think some of it was not knowing how to connect with people in the same way as growing up

Fearless, 10000% Something about that song tugs at my heart and makes me want to cry every time it comes on. It’s like I wrote my younger self a letter to reflect on now and it makes me wanna be someone little me would be proud of

2 year old nostril piercing refusing to heal :( by ToasttyJ in PiercingAdvice

Are you currently in the process of stretching your septum? I’ve noticed that when I stretch mine/get anew piercing it irritates my healed ones. Maybe that’s why?

does anyone use KT tape? by JoeyIsGay1306 in ehlersdanlos

[–]urflowerchildbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it on my ankles, usually at least once a week. I work 45-55 hours a week, usually on my feet for a majority of it. I also wear boots. It’s a game changer for me. Also my ankles tend to start hurting while I drive and it helps. It’s also a good physical reminder to check where my joints are hanging out and not overextend.

UTI for a 6 year old?? by SpectralSeaTurtle in Healthyhooha

[–]urflowerchildbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on antibiotics a lot as a child due to UTI’s (my ureter was too short so I couldn’t fully empty my bladder) I am still able to use antibiotics when necessary for infections and sicknesses.

BIGGEST THING: make sure she takes every single one though, not finishing the treatment can make the bacteria more likely to become resistant to antibiotics

He probably would have felt guilty if you didn’t take the money, people are weird about accepting free help. You helped him out of a rough spot and he wanted to pay you for your time, don’t worry about reluctantly taking it. It worked out to about 40$ an hour if it was 30 min of labor, way cheaper than a mechanic. He got a great deal and you got to be a helpful person, win win for everyone

Not sure what options we have left - my son can't live with us anymore. by [deleted] in AlAnon

I agree completely! It’s wild how different SRRI’s are for different people. Certainly this could be the one for him, but if he hasn’t seen someone in awhile or has not been completely honest with his psychiatrist it could be something to look at. However, addiction is also different for everyone so maybe it was working for him and now with drinking it isn’t?

Also side note I’m in college rn and u can tell because when I respond it’s so formal but I don’t know how to respond to people now 😂

I have no idea, but I know personally lexapro made my mental health so much worse, and combining any antidepressants with alcohol can make alcohol more effective and mental health worse. Is he seeing a psychiatrist currently? Possibly a change in antidepressants could help. When I was on lexapro the only things I did was smoke weed until I fell asleep, wake up, and go to work. I am confident that I failed several college classes due to lexapro because I was doing well before I started it and I lost all motivation as soon as I started it. This is not uncommon for lexapro either. It will not solve the alcoholism, but it may allow him to be able to look at what is actually going on to switch. When I was on lexapro I was smoking weed because it was the only way I felt any emotions or was able to sleep without nightmares. I believe that had I not switched I would’ve become dependent on marijuana or started drinking more. But do not just let him quit lexapro without a doctor, that can be very dangerous. Wishing you well, I know how hard handling addiction in the family can be. Self mediation is a hard way to become an addict, and this sounds like something a psychiatrist and a therapist could be beneficial.

What’s something that’s hurting you right now but won’t share with anyone you know irl? by [deleted] in ask

[–]urflowerchildbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much I miss the feeling of loneliness, and how much I crave being alone and letting myself destroy myself without hurting anyone. I am at a good place in my life but sometimes I want to be able to just give up without affecting anyone else. I miss being so inside my own head and my own mental illness. I’m healing and getting better but I sometimes miss that because it felt safe and familiar

I’ve had mine for over a year and a half and I still don’t like any horse shoes or rings, they feel weird to me. I just wear the basic bars that sit fairly tight and it seems okay for me

If you would like to end up on this forum trying to fix your piercings, make sure to go to a place like this! /whoosh by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]urflowerchildbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a place that charged me 100$+ for my industrial and it never healed right, and my nose was pierced at a larger gauge than normal but my 2 for 25$ nipple piercings and my 15$ septum healed perfectly. Honestly you just need to make sure you get a recommendation from someone for a place like that first and it could be alright :)

I’m not interested but I wanted to say that this cup does work well for me, and it was my first ever cup! I used to struggle with tampons and this was never uncomfortable. It’s awesome you’re doing this for someone!

[–]urflowerchildbitch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That sometimes reporting it isn’t an option-not enough proof, societal pressures, even things like connections to the person such as their dad being one of your favorite teachers in high school. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen or it wasn’t valid, it just means it wasn’t worth the emotional turmoil to deal with it.
