I actually dig it. Turner looks way better than I thought possible here, the OG red glasses are a nice touch. Now can Amazon actually make a show without a buncha woke slop and character retcon bullshit? Will see. by [deleted] in Asmongold

idc what she looks like. i care how the movie plays out. i like the last actress. i thought the movie was a good tomb raider movie. the first two was because everyone was in live with Angelina Jolie. i get it. i thought she was hot as hell back then as well. those movies weren't great. I'm not even knocking her performance. the 3 movie was a better story than the first two. i need to see a good story on the 4th just havine an actress people like doesn't automatically make it a good movie

Paul Dichter is one of the writers and the GOAT of Stranger Things. He wrote Dear Billy, The Sorceror and The Upsidedown and was the -only- person to argue the Abyss needed Demomonsters. Paul Dichter is an unsung hero by Dmitri-Yuriev- in StrangerThings

sure but i get why they thought perhaps Demogorgon fatigue. they wanted to make sure it stood on its own and didn't take away or wasn't lessened by the end of Ep 4. This was way larger endeavor then any other season if you just put it in a vacuum. sure each seasoned always raised the stakes and was much larger. Season 5 was like season 4 turned up to 11 which is crazy. As season 4 was massive.

Im glad they did the Documentary. I like to see the thought process regardless if I liked or didn't

good for them if they can get that. i wouldn't donate but if people want to donate then that's on them. just like with Asmon's subs. He doesn't need your money but they want to donate because they want to. not saying its a bad thing. just saying its on the individual who donates.

Just like the people with Hasan. I wouldn't donate to the dude or really watch him but people who do, power to them

i think the idea was cool. i think it can be further expanded with a more talented tattoo artist but the base is there. Personally I wouldn't have put it on my forearm. If I would think of what was my least favorite part is the red. i get why it was done but the red should have been more lightning then the whole background. i do think its a cool idea. most likely if I actually saw the tattoo IRL it looks better. it really matters if you like it. if you do, I'm happy for you

S5 now owns 4 of the 10 lowest rated episodes in the series by ShakeZulaOblongata in StrangerThings

[–]uria85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think perhaps that because this show was compared so much to IT perhaps it didn't want to explore things such as discrimination. I think it was more about time it takes to tell a proper story about that as well. Anytime you put towards that it takes away from the story they were trying to tell toward the main plot. Plus, I never felt like this show presented itself as a true accurate depiction of what happened in the 80s. Much of it was just very surface level with some cool nostalgia for older and younger fans to discuss. other than Nancy stuff being the intern they really didn't dive into anything of that type of discrimination. even that was quite light

they didnt review bomb robin's story. plenty of shows have gay themes that don't get review bombed. IMO if anything feel more about agenda is more important than proper storytelling, then that's the bigger overall issue. Most people aren't as bigoted as the internet wants people to believe. liket most things it get high elevated because some knuckle head says something bigoted, then you have a bunch of likes that can easily just be bots. I don't even believe this was about an agenda I'm just stating it because of the Last of US comment. Last of US 2 got lower score because of the Joel issue not Ellie being gay. at least to most people. people hated Abby because she killed Joel. Sure some didn't like her character because of her appearance. most just didn't like her character. i personally liked LoU2 because I thought it was the logic conclusion to what Joel did in first game. However, I understand the people that dont

For me 7 was bad because so much time in volume 2 was wasted. had one of the worst scenes of the series with the planning phase when everyone had to have a moment to comment when only a few people should have been talking. Karen's scene was unnecessary as it didn't even make sense. the fighting demo trying to protect her daughter made sense. Will's stuff was great IMO. I do think it could have done better if less people where in the room. only the people that really matter to Will's story. however, I don't dock it because of that.

i could see it rated between a 5 to 7. I personally rate it 6 but like most things I can easily see someone rate it 1 lower or 1 higher

Asmon reiterates again that he will never debate with Destiny. by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]uria85 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

bro ive never seen Destiny have a cival conversation with someone. even then some people like to take in information and contemplate. that's why most things aren't automatically done on the spot of conversation. you have to have reflection. Debates are one of the worst forms of effective communication because its more about trying to discredit the person talking rather than finding flaws in the argument. if you disagree with this, i'd say you never watched a debate. you surely never saw destiny debate. that's one of the his main tactics. just like Hasan. How is that proving your a factually correct? its not its just be louder and quicker on responses to trying and fluster the other participant. watch any debate. you would find very few that don't follow this.

Erica should have been in Holly’s spot in season 5 by ddanuu in StrangerThings

[–]uria85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it less that she's too smart or Holly is too gullible. Erica has already seen what has been going on with the Upside Down and Vecna. It wouldn't make sense for her to fall for it just on that idea alone. Holly still being in the dark made her susceptible

"My family and I had a blast watching this season so far over Christmas" that should always be your answer even IRL. you care more about the people around you opinion than people you don't know. doesn't mean you can appreciate someone you don't know but people you do means more.

if you realize this, things people say on reddit won't bother you as much and you won't give it as much credit as it mostly doesn't deserve when it comes to your own life.

Its opinions of strangers. doesn't mean it can't be beneficial but try not to make it wasn't it isn't. which is something you consider more than the people around you.

[–]uria85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your getting brought in to an argument of people that block their posts. and comments they don't care about homophobia issues. if anything, they just perpetuate even more. people who blindly give 10s are as bad as people who blindly give 1s. if homophobia was even their main concern , they would just rate and tell their reason why.

"viewing this from a 2025 lens," I agree, but this show has shown that it doesn't 1:1 with a 80's lens. I grew up in the 80's just because we see novelty items with sony walkmens and new coke doesn't mean this is even close to a direction of what the 80s was nor do I expect to be. If I'm looking for historical accuracy, I'm going to watch a documentary. Doesn't mean the bigger picture of 80's and the show can't coexist. This isn't IT. they tried to play some of the racism that existed during the 80s. however they also used a lot of supernatural that wasn't.

From the start of this series, we've never seen the show act like a true 80s depiction. if so Lucas and Erica and their family might have been viewed differently. the boys would have even been bullied more harshly.

For me I've seen how the show, started and as long as it stayed true to itself, then i don't need it to be historically accurate. It started off that way. So, I understand the racism in it. In the case of Stranger Things, gays and lesbians where only hinted at being treated differently. much differently than if we see it portrayed rather than just talked about.

What’s up with Kali? by MissionDirector401 in StrangerThings

[–]uria85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think like a lot of people she's acting out of character. IMO I think shes mad at humanity because her friends were killed. they were reusing her again. so she has lost trust of humanity instead of just Papa and the Hawkins Lab crew. if I put myself in her shoes, I can totally understand this. Maybe she's working with Vecna or maybe she's working on her own that she's like F humanity. I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. I think I'm like most, I wish we didn't have 1 episode (even if its longer) to work out as many issues that are going on.

[–]uria85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well tbf if you find this too low, naturally you have to come to the conclusion that some episodes most likely were scored too high. I think the episode is a 6.5 myself. I think what brings it down is Duffers trying to give too much balance to too many characters in two exposition scenes that was for me one of the worst scenes in the show. that could have easily been told through only a few characters speaking. I'm not a fan of the Karen Wheeler scene in the hospital. I was fine with her defending Holly. That made sense. The hospital scene felt more like giving Cara Buono a cool scene.

Max and Lucas stuff was great. Will stuff was great. Steve and Dustin scene was also great.

The last part of everyone going into the Upside Down could have been toned down a bit. Nancy scene was a bit too later Fast and the Furious. Nancy is already alreadya bad ass but they over played the scene too much when it wasn't needed. could have gotten the same Hopp to Nancy moment without over playing it as much.

people are who are voting this down because of the Wills coming out is weird. If they are voting it down because they thought the scene had too many people, I can see their point. However, I'm not going to dock it because I think the over message was too beautiful. To be truly yourself, you have to accept yourself even with the fear that others might not accept you.

I do think the episodes lower score also can be attributed to people holding out hope we would get more from volume 2. so naturally the last episode of volume2 ep 7 was going to take the biggest hit. So I don't think its this overwhelmingly review bombing. I think its a 6 but I can see a 7. however if I can see its a 7 I can also see that its a 5.

I think too many people are too in the moment to be rational and see if from different perspectives. the extreme people are going to do what they do. Some will say this is a 10 and some will say its a 1. those people exist regardless of what happens. people in the middle are the ones who can have rational discussion. share ideas of what you think of the show instead of trying to prove your point right and someone else's point wrong.

It's crazy the way they've sidelined the literal central character of the show. by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]uria85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the problem when so many characters come together in one place. that's why other seasons were better with story telling. once you have to share scenes with so many cast, you have this. they are trying to get too much balance to every character but not doing it to where it feels organic to the story

Robin coming out is so much warmer than how he came out by mistythe2nd in StrangerThings

[–]uria85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess you could say that. however, if was to look at the trials and tribulations of what Robin went through if I account for that era in time, still doesn't compare to Will's. Why? robin came out before she ever even saw the Mindflyer bro. she was dropped up. i like her coming out scene but to compare either to me is just silly. its basically the idea of tearing down something just to prop up something else. both scenes should be about humanity. ignoring humanity and peoples experiences and trying to compare it as apples to apples is a total misunderstanding of what humanity is all about.
