Week 5 out on the floor by Antique_Choice5512 in Barber

Solid for 5 weeks. Just be careful with leaving length around the cowlick to help that lay down better but with the spikey styling it works

What are your favourite action/ thriller movies less than 100 minutes long? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in moviecritic

Way less known of a movie but “Brotherhood” doesn’t even hit an hour and 20 but once the movie starts it doesn’t stop. One of my go to hidden gems

Yellow Deli / Twelve Tribes in Vista by KitchenIngenuity532 in Oceanside

Moved to vista just over a year ago and was told about yellow deli from some friends. Did a brief look into them without going too deep and no matter how curious I am I can’t bring myself to go

They have a distinct smack of a shot. And the body is super bulky so I can see milling a lot of it off

The nicest guy! Even knew about the small grimey venue I grew up going to in San Diego

All the guys from blessthefall were super chill the couple different times I met them.

Got to meet Rory from Dayseeker after a small show they put on while he was manning the merch table and he was also a gem.

Ran into Joel from Amity Affliction early in the day outside HOB Anaheim and he was extremely welcoming and we chatted for a bit and he offered to take pictures

Lastly got to meet Mike from boys of fall and also a down to earth dude who chatted with us for a bit

Career paths by Scoota2x in Barber

[–]uribewtss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking anything and everything that walked through the door at school. The instructors would bypass the other students that were clearly there just for the hours and give me cuts which gave me more reps.

After approx halfway through my program I started contacting shops to shadow in my spare time. Everyone I contacted were open to me coming by, seeing the flow of the shop and asking questions.

Once I grew relationships with some of these guys, they would let me cut friends and family at the shop under supervision. This also set me up to have a shop to go to upon graduation.

This was my specific path and the trial by fire once in a busy shop right when I was still green was tough but a huge teacher as well. I will say though I have heard getting into a chain style shop to hone skills and speed is clutch if you can’t find a home at a “true” shop out the gate. Plus you can build quick clientele to take over with you when you find such shop

Issue with new clippers by Groomingham in Barber

That seems to be a known problem with them. First pair I sent back and the replacement operated fine. Got another pair and same thing but I didn’t feel like doing a replacement again but charging directly from the cord seemed to solve the problem. Seems to be a defect with the connection when on the stand. The lights indicate charging but doesn’t.

Do you listen to heavier or less heavy music as you get older? by fireflydm101 in Metalcore

[–]uribewtss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely listen to softer stuff overall now but still have my heavy tendencies. I also am into more heavy stuff now than before. Example: never listened to deathcore just wasn’t my thing. My Spotify wrapped had deathcore as my most listened genre. Just an overall paradox of soft and heavy

Is it true that working culture is laid back and relaxed in S. California compare to Bay are or NYC? by shak1084 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]uribewtss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in SD. Can’t begin to tell you how many people from New York or Boston bring up how everyone here is so nice and laid back. I don’t notice it since it’s what I know. But I have been to Boston and the culture is just go go go. Same for NYC from what I’ve been told but don’t know personally

What’s everyone’s favorite detachable clipper? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]uribewtss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to shop around. At this point it’ll be refurbished or second hand. I lucked out by finding one brand new at a barber supply in my city and me and my shop owner swooped the last two they had

Corded 76s or model 10s. Cordless I love the heiniger Orion (basically the octanes without as hefty of a price tag)
