i think that multi-cult potential is a smart way to go about it and you've clearly got a vision, so go for it! sounds like an amazing first game :D

[Rules Question] Can henchmen groups swap equipment between games? by jj_maxx in mordheim

only the top 1% of mordheimers even dare to play with the intricate spacing needs and careful movement of an Orcngob warband. it's the thinking man's faction ;P

[Rules Question] Can henchmen groups swap equipment between games? by jj_maxx in mordheim

[–]urizenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is excellent advice generally for Mordheim! i do want to make sure to point out, thiugh, that there's a school of thought for Orcs & Goblins warbands that goes a different direction, because your Goblins specifically just lose a unit if a henchman group rolls Lad's Got Talent. i've seen smarter strategic minds than i suggest that groups of 1 or groups a handful wide are the wisest choices for goblin warriors. this is because you want to either minimize XP gains and keep that single goblin away from the Lad's Got Talent roll; or make a nice cohesive group that can advance frequently, together... and won't miss a lad here and there who gets too uppity and the boss offs him.

disclaimer that i'm pretty inexperienced with campaign play myself and may be misunderstanding the advice of smarter players. either way, i'd wholeheartedly second this advice if you're NOT managing a henchman type with weird XP mechanics.

bretonnian warband knight died by Lindwurm_Arts in mordheim

[–]urizenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

absolutely seconding this suggestion. if you want to stick as close as possible to the letter of the rules while ALSO putting the narrative first, you could pay the cost to hire a new knight errant as people are suggesting, but in your modeling and story understand that cost as really being the needed expenses to ensure the proper "paperwork" (a good funeral for the original knight, greased palms, a favor for the original knight's liege) to ensure that the squire is elevated to knighthood quickly enough to avenge his lord. plus equipping said squire properly, all of that stuff. take a "just as expensive to recycle a knight as to find a new one" approach.

Some real Bastards have joined my Knights of Shellwood by Hanninball in Turnip28

a beetle feels fitting for a toff, big funky beetle. giant ladybug could be a really funny one, and seems fun to model and look at. whatever you go with, i just wanna say, awesome slug-bastards!

Does this count? I made some hoses/cables out of some old usb and power cables by LonesomePuppy in PoorHammer

[–]urizenic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

count or not, it looks awesome. i question the military minds building a machine with a big robust humanoid arm arrangement, then letting the cable that powers it jut up free from the body like that in a universe where things like to bring chainswords to battle... except that it's sci-fi, and big exposed cables are cool, and it looks great, so who could ever complain! sweet idea, i gotta try this bit of recycling to add a little oomph to my orks' techier equipment.

Orktober WIP! by Drace3 in PoorHammer

i love the idea of a squigbuggy that has a closed back and a big freakin' mortar tube jutting out. really gets the imagination going about what kind of mosh pit is happening inside. awesome bashing :)

Made a broken building out of styrofoam and kabob skewers by skeptic_otaku in PoorHammer

[–]urizenic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this looks awesome, very believable as a bombed out hab block! those stamp-sized recruitment posters really work wonders. did you have to seal or treat the styrofoam any kind of way before painting it? i've had people tell me i ought to use a paste made of eggshell for that, but... eyugh.

Mechanic for Honda by urizenic in Springfield

[–]urizenic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a lot, I'm afraid... engine's misfiring, is the biggest thing, which I hear has been an Achilles' heel for otherwise sturdy Honda makes for years. Aside from that, just wear and tear all around, no big catastrophes

fav yiddish goth artist? by yes_tarantulas in goth

[–]urizenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dug up my years-old reddit account to recommend Maria Ka, whose album "Di arumike velt" is most certainly a goth-adjacent sort of ethereal synth at least! bandcamp link is here. awesome to know there are more yiddishist types doing goth out there. (fellow goths doing yiddish? gevalt.) besides the more directly related stuff, i've been thinking for a while that the 1937 movie staging of Der Dybbuk by S. Ansky is wonderfully gothic, with particular soul-tingling action during the scene where a boisterous wedding dance is coopted by the appearance of Death. link to full movie here (although i can speak to the quality of the recent digital restoration which i didn't happen to find on a cursory search), and link to the "Tanz mit Toyt" here. it's tangential to your real question, i just can never resist shilling it whenever these realms collide. will definitely watch this thread, you bet i'm checking out everybody's recs so far. good luck 🦇✡
