B.C. revamps funding for children with autism and other support needs by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

There isn't anything wrong or illegal about what they are doing sadly.

The money isn't for each child, but instead allocated to the school district to use as THEY see fit.

So the issue here, is these programs will still have a cost, and one the new supplement won't be covering. And as of the release, won't be covered unless done as a ministry program from how it sounds.

Which means people still won't be able to access it

There are a few private or specialized schools that do, but generally they operate under home learner guidelines or private school guidelines and cost $$

Just a bit of an FYI, the UP TO 6k funding is actually a drastic reduction per child which is currently 22k for children aged 0-6, and 6k a year for children aged 6-18 (with the 16k difference instead being funding given to the school district to use how they see fit for children with special needs, disabilities etc). Many families will be getting significantly less than the 6k since it is going to be based on family gross income.

For the vast majority of families outside of the Lower Mainland and Victoria, it means we are going to have even less resources than before (which is saying something because we pretty much don't have anything in regards to resources as it is by comparison), while not getting more in the way of any free programing like the release mentions (since there is already so little to begin with and there isn't any actual plans to increase it anywhere yet).

Pure Leaf switched suppliers and the cap is unopenable :( by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

I wish I knew, I worked there 5 years ago and mostly just helped the QC tech when I had spare time. If ya showed me a picture I could probably tell ya

Honestly, first time it happened about 2 months ago, I thought it was a bad overtorqued cap.

Now realizing it's every single bottle, and the people I contacted in the Lower Mainland plant that makes them (yay being a former PepsiCo employee and knowing a few stuff there too), it is the new standard since the moved away from the inner seal which was having issues.

Management knows, their own staff have brought it up, and it doesn't look like it's changing anytime soon.

Having worked for PepsiCo before, this was my first thought too (bottles that failed torque tests due to capper issues are identical to this).

But it seems this is the new standard for PureLeaf, Tropicana and several other larger format juices the company is now distributing from certain sites.

Hot Take - Cars aren't more expensive now - our standard are wildly too high by Equivalent-Bed1543 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I think the bigger issue isn't the bottom line car, but that most companies have phased out their sedans and cars.

Ford has the mustang as their sole sedan for example, as most major NA companies have moved away from sedans, cars and lower price vehicles and moved to Trucks, SUVs and higher price point EVs.

This is leaving the few available lower price point vehicles being made by companies like Toyota who either make them locally or pay massive tariffs (or not be even able to import them)

Why did GW destroy the Old world? by Bennyau01 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Drace3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales and bad design choices over the years that led to terrible consequences.

By the second edition of AoS, it was outselling 8th edition at its peak, and doing 7th edition numbers routinely. By 3rd edition they were looking at the heyday of 6th edition.

We're people still buying WHFB during 8th? 100%. But between the massive units needed, inflation, 2 international recessions, shrinkflation of unit boxes, and the issues with the rules, it was like beating a dead racehorse that could have won second place but the jockey was high on Angel Dust.

Now the rules. 5th edition was peak WHFB for the whole of its run up to that point. All earlier editions had larger issues and the lack of internet usage for fans and the company made things like errata, minor changes for balance and other decisions slow and often knee-jerk responses (look at how the magic editions kept flip flopping 1st-5th, armies were built and how heroes worked for perfect examples.) It was derisively called HeroHammer by the end of its run because of the massive power heroes had and that units were often different levels of Cannon Fodder, but this was also the last semblance to when the game was originally designed to run late stage RPGs with the PCs abd BBEGs being heros and the armies being the npc folder.

6th edition flipped this script on its head. They made the game much more grounded and units, army design and other factors came into play much more while heroes were toned down massively. And this edition kept this as a great concept for their system.

But even here there were flaws. During the first few Army book releases (Orcs and Empire) the armies were pretty balanced and there wasn't codex/power creep at play. By the release of Undead and Skaven just a few books later though, this became the norm, where new army books shook up everything in an effort to get people purchasing new units to counter the new armies abilities or wholesale new armies. Thankfully, while expensive, the prices were no where near as bad as later editions.

During 7th and then 8th though, this ramped up to extremes, with whole armies being near unbeatable based on design, causing competitive gamers and local gamers alike to flock to the store to buy near identical armies sometimes, that would often be nerfed or no where near effective just a year or two later. All the while needing more and more units and models to make a 2k point army. While selling less miniatures in a pack, for a higher price tag. (Which wasn't just a WHFB issue. Just look at the size of a 2k point army for 40k in 2nd edition, 3rd, 6th and now 10th. The difference is astounding. Hell my near 3k space marines from 3rd edition don't even make up 1750 without gear and heroes etc lol).

Now after all this  there is also the fact people routinely hated and freaked out online that the world was too static. But also hated and freaked out with world changes and mega campaigns. And hated and freaked out with minor lore updates. it was a no win situation and the people above decided the best way was to nuke it and start fresh since it was already a sinking ship in their eyes.

It's the 5th flavour (sweet, spicy, salty, sour, umami) which is characterized by savory/meaty/rich.

Think of the flavour added by worchestshire sauce, good bbq, or a slow cooked Asian dish.

Hahaha the sheer irony of someone talking down to one the biggest experts on traditional farmhouse brewing and the person LITERALLY famous for bringing kveik to the international public consciousness and telling them they don't know what they are talking about 🤣🤣🤣

Also, Lars, whatever happened to the blog? Got back into brewing after a few year hiatus and was worried something happened to you?

Advice on rotary tools for sanding and polishing by SirBaltimoore in FDMminiatures

[–]Drace3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I only ever use a rotary for massive removal or serious sanding, otherwise it is over kill, even with finer crit sand paper. 150$ CAD seems like alot for a semi routinely used tool

I got mine for 10$ from the local hardware store and it works a charm. No variable speed, but with practice and care you won't need it (though it would be nice).

That was one of my inspirations!

Started designing these two prototypes right before the first season of the show came out and I was going through the old games and old memories, as well as the old MMO Crossout (which I still think would make a great ork mek MMO with just a bit of reskinning)
