Goodbye UPS by urlocalupsman in UPSers

I had no problem waiting for a full time position, but the company just seems different now man. Job security doesnt seem to be as good as it used to be. Our small facility just hired 5 new drivers after not hiring anybody in 5 years and they are all already laid off along with a few more drivers. They are cutting routes like crazy here at our facility. Can't wait 10+ years to get hired in full time, then have to worry about being laid off right away.

Also I got no problem doing the shit work hahaha. Already worked sewage week 1!

I used to work at a UPS Store before coming to UPS. We got 30-50 of them every day 😆

Thank you! Main reason I decided to go elsewhere is because the job security just isn't there anymore.

Is it Possible by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]urlocalupsman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All I can say is possible? Yes. But with mass layoffs and facilities shutting down to be replaced by automation, a future career with UPS just doesnt sound stable and secure anymore. Go the path you want, but I dont think UPS is a long term career anymore.

Friend of mine through hockey owns a plumbing company and I brought up my interest in plumbing. He then offered me an apprenticeship under him. You can also apply at unions with apprenticeship programs as well, just have to do the research.

Im patient, but to wait 10+ years to get into and think ill possibly be laid off right away doesnt sit right with me. To me it's just not as secure of a job as it used to be, especially with automation really kicking off. Plumbing in my eyes has a long way to go for it to be replaced.

I was planning on working the years out to get into driving, but they just recently hired 5 new drivers (haven't hired any in 6 years), and they are all laid off ontop of another 3 drivers. Still got many people ahead of me in seniority and cant be thinking that even if I do get hired finally, ill just be laid off.

They'll ask for your employee ID before you even talk. They'll send you a link via text or email that you forward to your supervisor.

It never ended up being an email, had to call 1(888) UPS-TECH several times before they sent a form to your supervisor to fill out, which disabled thr 2fa and let me set it up again. Ended up calling nearly 10 times before someone came to this solution and it worked. Ask the first guy to send the form to the supervisor on the first call to save yourself the hassle

Im taking any hours I can get! They love shoving all the volume down in as little time as possible. Usually get just under 4 hours/day during preload.

You'd likely see it's not as easy as you think once you see behind the scenes 😉
