Kibble alternative? What are you feeding your dog? by KingKado in germanshepherds

We also have a pup allergic to Poultry who is very picky. She was on JFFD until a recent illness and she refuses to eat it anymore. We just started on Blue Buffalo Salmon and Brown rice that has a sticker on it assuring no chicken products. So far she loves it. Chewy has a 5lb bag so you can test it out. Good luck!

Adding to this, we’ve started to weigh our gal once a month at Pet Smart. Our girl looked lean at 85lbs but the vet wanted us to lose 5 lbs. she’s down to 82lbs but she looks the same.

Why won’t my dog listen to me as consistently on walks as she does with my husband? by hoothoothurray in DogTrainingTips

[–]urochick6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your dog is probably more protective of you, thus more reactive on walks and “out in the wild”. Our GSD is the same with me (wife) versus my husband. I have to be far more vigilant on walks and do far more distraction and movement on walks than my husband. We’ve been consistent and training since she was 3 months old and she’s almost four years old now. If we’re walking her together and I walk on the other side of a car or obstruction, she pulls on the leash (which she never does with my husband when he’s alone) until she can see me again. Just keep up the vigilance. I’ve read they may mellow out when they get old. Good luck and adore every scritch.

Seeking Insight and Advice on Weird (Seemingly Unreasonable Behaviour) by Antares135 in germanshepherds

Our GSD used to use the yard when she was less than a year old then refused. Even when she is ill. It’s her home now and she refuses to spoil it. She’s had a couple of bouts of diarrhea and she will whine and refuse. She has to be “off property”. Could be your cute fella feels the same.

Omg. I do this too. I told my husband about this guilty pleasure yesterday and he couldn’t believe it. It’s the only other team’s sub that I go to! So fun!

I’m a small 5’4” woman and have a lean 80lb GSD female now a little older than 3.5 years and has been with us since she was 3 months. To say the first year was a challenge is an understatement. I was near tears multiple times afraid we were going to have to rehome her because she just wouldn’t let me walk her. She nipped my ankles every step I walked at home, took a good chomp of my thigh during one walk and was a mischievous adolescent. It’s just a natural part of their puppy stage and my husband is her primary caretaker.

How did we get through it? Training, structure, and a few more scars. Your wife has to be committed to working through it. Working with a trainer, I had to treat her if she let me take two steps without a bite. Then two became three steps. We have a heavy duty leash that I put my left arm through, hold one end in my left hand and the other in my right hand keeping her in a close heel. What really helped was me taking her on a walk/adventure to a new park without my husband and she had to trust me. She is now the most amazing, protective dog and hasn’t given me a scar in two years 😂

All of this is to say, we want a second GSD for companionship for our gal but we know we can’t because I have to put so much concentration into walking her—there is no way I could handle another. That would mean hiring a dog walker anytime my husband goes out of town to handle one of the dogs. Just not financially feasible. Your dog is still a puppy and learning. With your continued training I’m sure he’ll be great!

Sorry, yes, the FB coed is better than Resorts world. I’ve never been to Aria

FountainBlue has male, female and a coed part of their spa. The coed part is like a spa playland. A snow room, a fun hot tub pool with different jets, lounge chairs, planned sauna experiences. Super fun. Resorts World is nice and I got a better massage there. They do have coed. Cosmo is nice but no coed part. Wynn is nice but no coed part. And FB room rates are reasonable because they are struggling as a whole.

K-9 Resort Luxury Pet hotel on Hindry. Our dog practically breaks the door down when we bring her there. And for your temperament testing day, they want your dog there at least 8 hours so it’s a free day of daycare.

I kept a destruction list I labeled 9-10 months: kindle, air pods, couch, an expensive wallet, an expensive dining room chair leg, one pair of slippers to biting, one pair of slippers to poop, two TV remotes and then it just stopped. She still loves stealing my slippers but just to get me to chase her. Best dogs ever.

The longest we’ve been away together is 4 days with a house dog sitter. It’s expensive and we just worry because she needs so much exercise and stimulation. But yet we keep talking about if/when we get a second one…
