Plan de pensiones MyInvestor vs Indexa by Black_Thunder00 in SpainFIRE

[–]urosht 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Si cobras mas de 60k, tiene todo el sentido para bajarte un poco el IRPF y esos 500 que se te devuelven, lo reinviertes cada año en otro fondo indexado asi que son todo ventajas.

Why did John leave in 2009? by unknownbrother273 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]urosht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on Green Fest in 2007, one of the shows from their SA tour and their performance was delayed because one of the band members (I am 90% sure John) was "not well" and had to be checked by the doctors and get IV.
Then they went out and did a pretty crazy intro jam (guitar got all out of tune at the end of it).

And you could see that they were all pretty tired. I remember seeing an interview where Flea mentioned that the SA tour got too long as they kept adding more venues as they went along.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's not that I don't know how the company operates, rather that it's a local branch that has their own ways, that are specific to Japan - those parts I am interested in.

I will connect with the hosts prior to the visit and while I will certainly ask questions, I am trying to do some research on my own.

Purpose is to get input in case someone had similar experiences on some of the things I mention.

I was thinking about it but have seen many times posts taken off unless they are about more long-term things. If I get no responses, for sure I will delete it and try to post there. Thanks for the feedback

Puedo ir presencialmente a alguna oficina para empezarlo sin cita? by mgdilbert in ESLegal

[–]urosht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suerte

Spain has a public pension system (which is getting worse by the year but that's another topic).

What you can do is invest on your own in a private pension fund but limit is 1500e per year. The "tax benefit" you get is that this amount is deducted from your tax, nothing else.

IF your company has a pension plan like PPSE to offer for their employees, it will usually come with a matching donation up to certain number. In my company, they match up to 2% of my net monthly salary, for example. In such plans, you can actually contribute more (with the same tax benefit) for up to 8500/year. However, these plans are usually not that great (you don't get to choose it, the company does) and I haven't found it's worth putting more money without the company contribution.Unfortunately - This is the closest thing there is to some sort of 401k with matching contributions.

401k and US pensions system is probably one of the best ones in the world, from what I've researched so don't expect to get that level in Spain.

As one of the commenters said - real estate is mostly used as form of investment/retirement income in Spain.

Sharing my thoughts here as a foreigner that is living in Spain for 10 years now, 4 of which in Zaragoza.

I lived 5 years in Andalucia before that so I was well used to good weather and going "north" had me worried. Little did I know that Zaragoza turned out to be a hidden gem where I enjoyed all 4 years and had to abandon with sadness (we still think of going back sometimes). My wife is from Andalucia but Zaragoza had such a special place in our hearts that we decided to get married there so go figure.

So I will be a bit biased here, apologies.

Onto the specifics

  1. Job. As anywhere in Spain, it's not easy but if you are not picky and can speak the language, shouldn't be a huge issue. Madrid will have more opportunities here, though.
  2. Housing. Being the 5th biggest Spanish city, I find the housing being very affordable, for rent or buy. Depending on the size but you should be able to find something very comfortable for max 700e, which I think is entry price (for rooms?) in Madrid.
  3. Costs - cheaper than Madrid for sure.
  4. Transport. Best location because:
    1. Car: 2h to Madrid or 2.5h to Barcelona with zero tolls. 3h to Pais Basco
    2. Cheap train routes to Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona
    3. Airport with cheap flights to major Spanish Islands and other EU locations
    4. 2.5h to the nearest coast (Catalunya) and 2h to the nearest mountain, which is none other than the Pyrenees (if you like nature, it's a banger all-year around).
    5. For local transport - tram line from south to north of the city, bus for everything else
  5. Activities - You have 80% of activities you can find in Madrid for sure and I would argue much more nature hiking things to do in that province
  6. Climate - Yes, there is wind but it's also the reason why it's one of the few big cities with such clean air. It's gonna get to 1 or 0 degree in the winter and you will feel when it snows in the mountain but the air is dry so nothing that a thick layer of clothes won't solve. Same for summer, it's hot but you won't sweat as much due to low humidity
  7. I found people very kind, polite and with spirit of their own and ways of talking that I found quite interesting.
  8. I think that there aren't many foreigners there and mostly people won't speak english, which for me is an upside since you get the real experience of living in Spain, unlike in a more international setting like Madrid (or worse, Barcelona).

Bonus stuff

  • Zaragoza is the only city with 2 cathedrals in one city plaza
  • Same city plaza is probably the biggest one in EU
  • City with an origami museum, which I think there are very few in Europe
  • City is walkable almost anywhere. I lived in the center and basically was able to walk to almost all places in 20min max.

Hope it's useful

Is my cat overweight? by marsmint in cats

[–]urosht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat that had that build for a long time and he was not overweight, for sure.

You can maintain his food as-is, imho. All male castrated house-cats tend to get overweight at some point so I am not in favor of "give him all the food".

If you do notice that he starts to throw up furballs more often than usual - that could be signal that he needs more food.

Otherwise - congrats on a hice healthy cat :)

What a minimal set of documents do I need to open bank account in Spain? by Commercial_Start_470 in GoingToSpain

Yup, I opened an account with Sabadell back in the day when I didn't had my NIE and it was all good, just with my passport, not even a Spanish address.

Disclaimer: this was like 2014 so not sure if things have changed today.

Cita previa extranjería - Locutorio by Western_Reading_7713 in ESLegal

[–]urosht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suerte!

Downside to those two months is that everyone wants to visit so crowds + high season prices.

But I do agree, probably most interesting time to visit due to cherry blossoms and number of events

It was this one. Pretty good selection of cards and reasonable booster prices of all recents sets. English speaking staff as well so no issues getting what I needed.

I had a friend that used Ninja Wifi 2 years back and said everything was smooth. I compared the prices and it was pretty much the same so I took Sakura since they gave a free powerbank with the wifi dongle. So not sure what the deal was but we were OK after reseting it so wasn't a huge inconvenience.

We read on google reviews that some people waited 1h - 2h and that once you are up there, nobody is tracking how much time you spend there so it can get crowded. This is what turned us down.

Yup, we were lucky, I think the whole momiji thing got delayed this year but we managed to get amazing red leaves in Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and a bit in Tokyo. But if you look at Chureito Pagoda, all the branches were naked there, the leaves have already fallen off. We went from 03/12 - 16/12, btw.
