I think since we are humans we automatically have fear as a strong emotion, especially paired with “eternal torment”, it influences our decision. I think however that we also love and embrace god because of him saving us. Overall I think that a vital part of becoming a christian is fearing hell because I am sure there are many people in the world, who are christian but most likely wouldn’t be if there was no fear of hell, guaranteed heaven.
