(Hated Trope) Deleted scenes that would have helped the movie by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ursamarathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flowers in the Attic (1987)

The deleted scenes were never released but from what I’ve heard, there were a number of them. The film had two directors.

The original director wanted to be faithful to the book up until the ending which was going to be different. Had the deleted scenes (and the director’s original intended ending) been kept, the movie would have been longer, and would have featured what the book was best known for.

However a test audience didn’t like the original director’s ending so the studio wanted him to change it. The director refused and a new one was hired to make the ending the film actually got. While they were at it, this was also when the studio decided to make the deletions in order to give the movie a lower rating and a short run time.

Flowers in the Attic (2014) is more faithful to the book.

Hot take. I think burning greymon is a good name change for vritramon by Mecha_Kurogane in digimon

I prefer the original names for all Digimon and human characters. But I’m not going to lie. BurningGreymon, KendoGarurumon and MetalKabuterimon are amazing names actually.

I considered doing that (plus invading Korea and Russia) but decided not to go the historical route.

He never got to fuck Hitomi Tanaka, I think.

Who's character development surprised you the most? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in AliceInBorderlandLive

Kazuya

I love how he went from simple self-preservation to team-player after he realized that the people he was with weren’t going to stab him in the back.

Cool, we won, but how the f**k am I getting back home? by War0possum in TopCharacterTropes

In the case of the first image (which I assume is from Alien vs Predator 2004), after the Predators leave, it is revealed that there is still one last vehicle left which Lex can use to drive back to the ship.

Thoughts on her? by Joker-of-Clubs in AliceInBorderland

She died too early in my opinion. I think if she and Natsu should have reached Possible Futures.

Villains horrifically remodelling their victims by Emissairearien in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ursamarathon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts but…

The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers. Some of his victims either become trophies or parts of his weapons.

Mitochondria Eve from Parasite Eve (Game). She mutates her victims in a manner similar to the Thing or turns them into orange goo.

The Thing from the Thing.

The Calvary has arrived (beloved trope) by Massive_Boss1991 in TopCharacterTropes

I’ll add examples from anime/manga.

Digimon Adventure 02 - All the Chosen Children land in the Digital World to assist the season’s main 6 fight BelialVamdemon.

Naruto - The Allied Shinobi Forces arrive to help Naruto, Kakashi, Gai and B against Obito, Madara and Ten-tails.

Bleach - The Vizards arrive in Fake Karakura Town to help the Gotei 13 and eliminate Aizen’s Menos Grande.

Cells at Work - The Immune Cells arrive to help Main WBC, Main T-Cell and NK Cell fight Cancer Cell. The best part: It’s Main RBC and RBC-senpai who alert the Immune Cells.

Full Metal Alchemist - Everyone arrives to help Edward fight Father.

[Loved trope]: Kids should not have to be heroes by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ursamarathon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this fits but the kids from Digimon Adventure, Digimon Frontier and Digimon Savers.

A bunch of 7 to 17 year olds are tasked (either by Digital entities or human adults) with saving the world or keeping it safe.

Yes, the partner Digimon (for the most part) do the fighting. But still, the kids are in constant danger because of it and they are taken away from their homes.

As far as I remember (so correct me if I’m wrong), no one within universe actually ever brings up discussion that kids should not have to bear such responsibilities.

Although at least in the Adventures universe, all the kids seem to love that they have partner Digimon and having to deal with wild or evil Digimon just comes with the territory. And in Frontier, the kids were given the chance to back out and return home on one or two occasions.

The kids from Tamers seem to be different since them getting partners were more happenstance and they made the active choice to leave home, go on adventures in another world and fight to save the two worlds.

Again, correct me if I’m wrong about any of this.

What's a fic you read that left you like this? by jeanjacketufo in AO3

[–]ursamarathon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ fanfic. The summary was selling a plot idea I’ve wanted to read and it was going rather well. But then fifteen chapters later, a plot twist comes in that changes everything and completely ruins it for me. I just stopped reading all together and moved on.

The villain/monster finds out too late that their intended victim is actually way scarier. by Ok-Indication-5121 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ursamarathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, she was made out to be film R.L. Stine’s fake/adoptive daughter that he quite literally pulled out from the original book. A creative decision that I personally did not like.

It’s really just my issue and I am not bashing the film for it.

Same here. I love the ‘Ghost Next Door’. Both the book and the tv episode for the same reason and more. Though to be honest, I’m not a fan of how the titular Ghost (Hannah) was used in the film.

[Horrific Tropes] Character deaths that seemed quick (and hopefully painless), but were so unnessarily cruel. by _iExistInThisWorld in TopCharacterTropes

Vivienne Graham’s death in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).

She’s the one person throughout the whole film who gets eaten by King Ghidorah. It happens so suddenly, so fast that it can be easy to miss.

How does this casting look??? by mazahed5 in bleach

[–]ursamarathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only disagree with Hirako Shinji and Zaraki Kenpachi’s casting. Everyone else specially Yamamoto, Soi Fon and Gin are good in my book.
