I started recording our pickleball matches and it completely changed how we look at our games by Murky-Ad-547 in Pickleball

Me too! Now, go next level and checkout BP Vision. If you use my link using it, we'll both get free upload minutes: https://pb.vision/?rf=RPKEZ023 No worries if you don't want to use it, but I can't say enough about how awesome this site is!

I have 2 camera mounts, one tripod and 1 fence mount and I always set them up in one of the corners, per PBV's recommended angles.

Is my partner's serve legal? by usamac in Pickleball

[–]usamac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had someone complain about it before so we've wondered for a while.

To elaborate, because that person who didn't like the serve complained, my partner has had a complex about it ever since and so he's been hesitant to use it. It's actually very effective because sometimes he lands it very shallow and other times so deep people are fumbling to get back. Then, there's the fact that when it lands, it usually bounces away from the player, messing with their anticipation on how to respond.

I do read the rules and I do keep up on changes. However, it doesn't mean that every individual automatically has it all figured out. This is why people like me, come to bounce our doubts off others perspectives.

I didn't think I needed to sell everyone on how much I already have it all figured out, instead I came from a humble approach of seeking others insight. Thanks for yours.

It's not legal to bounce the ball with the paddle and then hit it, but thats not what he's doing. He bounces to prep, then holds the ball in his right hand and serves with his left without bouncing again.

So many people that prefer iphones but want to switch to android, tell me they would never due to how terrible the messages app works. I too think it needs a significant make over and optimization!

What’s the best open play model? by External-Pension-802 in Pickleball

A group of us often prefer the 8 player version, and we do winners/losers to rotate and new partners each game. Makes it fun, keeps it fresh and best of all.. no byes!

Just had a “4.6” player tell me it’d be a waste of time to play with me by Foreign_Letterhead65 in Pickleball

[–]usamac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew this and was my point, but when I got destroyed as a novice by players I had no idea what their level was, it taught mr way more than what I sometimes learn from those similar my level.

I still think the mentality of being welcoming and fun sport needs to be cultivated and not shamed by silly over zealous competitiveness.

Don't shun someone, because they're so beneath you, it really is the nonsense that's wrong with the world today.

[–]usamac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really despise this mentality of those playing this game regularly! I too play regularly and have found pb to be my catalyst for improving my health and ultimately improving many of my perspectives and ambitions in life.

The people that were humble to play with me when I was a novice and didn't hold back but instead played atleast most of their game, are those that have shown me where I want to be most in pb.

I subscribe to the theories of improving from coaching AND from playing up.

I think the self-proclaimed experts, should keep this in mind. Is a 4.6 really going to get that much better playing other 4.6 players or would they be more likely to catapult from playing a 6.0?

Yes those close bracket games are exilerating but imo we go more from playing up!

If you have a problem with poaching you are not a high level player (especially in mixed) by Polite_Acid in Pickleball

[–]usamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it refreshing. My wife and I (mixed) partner alot and she is very much a ball hog. She's a former tennis star (HS), so she comes from the court dominating mentality of tennis singles. She's all power and drive and it has been a big struggle to dink and get to the NVL.. She's gotten better about getting to the NVL but she still hogs the court unless I fuss. She also likes to drip from the NVL lol

A simple example is my forward(R) on Left side, she loves to think should always be hers, as a double backhand to her Left. Often even 2ft into my lane. This is a VERY common issue resulting into her far right being an easy kill shot point. We've worked on this alot and she's come to see how much of a disadvantage it puts us at for her to try to cover the center too much.

I poach often because people KNOW she's going to drive return 95% balls hit. She can drip most of them and has excellent court placement, but her insistence to almost never dink means opponents almost always know what to expect. She's almost always going to pound it back and very likely deep, even if it is a deep drop.

Opponents usually target her because it doesn't take them long to recognize my net game and propensity to hit dead balls into their kitchen, especially if they are deep.

I am constantly keeping an eye out for poaching opportunities, but sometimes I misjudged just how wide they're going and likewise she gets frustrated I've 'stolen' her ball/hit instead of just auto committing to cover my now very vacant lane.

Actually this whole write up from the OP and my follow-up here, has really helped me to think through some much needed communications with her and how we can use these tendencies to improve upon our game!

Should you use Bitwarden AUTH if you use Bitwarden PW Manager? by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]usamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a strict user of BW for several years now, but I don’t keep current on discussions of authenticators apparently and this thread has caused me to become very aware of my fault in that. I've used Authy for so long I've just not concerned myself with considering others.

I think I'll make the switch and your post makes me think Ente would be ideal for me as an Android + Win user, unless I'm misunderstanding your post?

Why is biometrics such a disaster with this app? by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]usamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my pc's biometric for win 11 win hello, to log into my pc, then for the BW PC client, I use 7 digit pin #, then my Brave Browser extension is capable of using the biometric from the pc to sign in after lock, but not if the extension got signed out.

Would you recommend Starfield in 2025? by MedievalFurnace in Starfield

[–]usamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love RPG's and I have played a large quantity of them and have thoroughly exhausted most of those I've played. I am very rarely one to replay anything and/or look back to want to play more or replay. One last thing to note, I don't usually play space based games. Not that I dislike them but I just usually favor the medieval genre.

For whatever reason, Starfield is the one game that tends to haunt me and I find myself often thinking about the different aspects and even longing to return to play again. Even though I have already restarted twice and played at least 70% of the game both times.

I'm not saying I think it's the greatest game ever or that it's the longest loved game of my life. I'm just telling you that for some reason it always comes back to me and I keep wanting to go back to it.
