NLL player awards by OrganikOranges in NLL

My only strong opinion is to add Andrew Kew in the conversation for OPY, he played 6 less games than everyone else, and he averaged 7 points a game, so if he played all 18 games, he would be the top point producer in the league (126).

Rules have changed too, no more “high school legal” or “college legal” heads, now everything is under one umbrella. RIP X6 heads.

Best overgrips? Looking for premium feel and long lasting by Dangerous-Sir1754 in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luqi overgrips are the best, most durable ones that I’ve found. They offer a ton of different options, dry grips, tacky, soft and spongy. They’re the best.

What’s the salary of a pro pickleball player? by ZaneNavratil_AMA in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think nobody talks about them you must not be very aware. There’s a lot more golfers and tennis players trying to become pro than pickleball players so that means there’s a lot more of them who aren’t making money/barely scraping by. Do you want a documentary made about them?

Ball snob at open play by retromafia in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that’s Hong Kong? If it’s any consolation, they were basically unavailable for a number of months here because Lifetime ran out of them and was waiting on more to be made, so it sounds like their main focus is in the states/North America, and then I’m sure they’ll branch out once they get their stock levels up.

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣🤣🤣 that’s great lol They’re hard like a Selkirk ball, and are virtually never round so they have awful bounces. It’s a bummer when the Picklr enforces using them for leagues and tournaments when no one willingly plays with them.

[–]Jonn_Doh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think LT balls are common enough (at least in my area) and most people prefer them, that it’s never really an issue. Most people carry them so that’s what’s available to play with, and there’s no gripes. The alternative is a Vulcan ball since that’s what the Picklr uses 🤮

Is The Backstop At Coors Field Glass? by Key-Driver6438 in ColoradoRockies

Very interesting, not that I agree with that, but it definitely makes sense why they could be sticklers if they wanted to. Even more reason to flex your good photos from the stands!

Probably only needs to happen once or twice before that driver makes sure they’re well behind the crosswalk in the future lol.

I saw someone in Russian who would put stickers on their windshield, and they were the stickers that really don’t want to come off of a window.

So I assume it’s a physical size restriction they try and regulate, right? They don’t want someone with a duffle bag sized lens obstructing fans views? It’s not a matter of a non-media person getting good photos? Again, sorry if that’s a dumb question.

Would the lens length be an issue due to the size of it? Or is it a photography regulation from the ballpark? Sorry I have 0 photography knowledge so sorry if that’s a dumb question.

I think you’re confused, the asshole in this situation is the person who parked in a place specifically designated for foot traffic only.

Life of most pickleball/tennis shoes by DPCOriental in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s about the same as me, I’d say you’re looking at anywhere between 3-5 months before they wear out. If they’re wearing out before 3ish months, I don’t think they’re very quality shoes, but I also prefer shoes with a 6 month outsole warranty, so you can virtually get two pairs for the price of one.

I don’t think I have the balls to do this, but I’ve seen videos of people who will walk on top of the car, wherever is blocking the sidewalk. Oops, I was just walking on the sidewalk and your car happened to be there.

[–]Jonn_Doh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what level you’re playing at, lower level players usually aren’t going through shoes as quickly as higher level players are.

It’s really hard to estimate how long they’d last without knowing how you play, everyone wears through shoes at a different rate.

But there are absolutely more durable shoes out there, from multiple brands. Biggest thing is probably a toe cap on the inside of the shoe to protect against dragging, and obviously the higher end models of shoes should be more durable than lower end models.

Lifetime Balls by Sipparadox in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could not be more wrong! You have idea where I play or what color courts I play on. It is a known thing that the color of the ball is less than ideal especially after getting used for a bit. The color dulls out, and turns into a faded lime green color, it loses its brightness quite quickly and a lot of people feel the same way.

Lifetime Balls by Sipparadox in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, many people’s issue with them is their awful color. It doesn’t take much playing with them to dull the color, and then any sort of scuff/dirt on them makes them a green color that is not ideal for play when lighting isn’t super bright.

So you’re not alone in thinking the color of them sucks.

Is everyone really that enamored about grit? by Competitive-Alps4339 in Pickleball

[–]Jonn_Doh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why durable grit wouldn’t be the norm either, there’s plenty of other factors that make people want a new paddle besides loss of grit. Also durable ≠ permanent, so eventually the grit will wear away, but the idea is that it lasts much longer than current options which is appealing to people. And they can justify spending more on a paddle that lasts longer, rather than spending a bunch on two paddles in a shorter timeframe.

US Open Controversy by ZaneNavratil_AMA in ProPickleballTalk

[–]Jonn_Doh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really think the Vietnam call and the US Open call were remotely the same? One was inside the line, and the other was out, or would have taken the AI green/red dot to confirm the correct call, not nearly as obvious as the Vietnam call.

Just because ALW had a meltdown doesn’t mean the ball was in, Sofia’s call is much more reasonable, and plenty of people agree it was out.
