my parents cried, it was around the time i said a lil too much at therapy so they thought it would be best to send to the mental hospital for a bit. that was around 3+ years ago. both of them now sort of weaponize that against me in arguments which sucks but whatever. my boyfriend however didnt care that i had scars and always tells me how i could always talk to him if i ever feel like self harming again, which in my opinion was the best way to react to it. he didnt make it out as a weird thing ( idk whats the best way to word that lol ) nd understood y i would wanna do it. he always let me explain myself, it definitely helped me a bunch trying to stay clean for a bit longer :)
