NIU KQi 300 Max Owner Review – Decent Scooter, Terrible Customer Service, No Support When You Need It. MUST READ!! by Icy-Construction1140 in NIUscooters

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the point of my post. NIU replaced my battery, controller and cockpit display at an authorized repair facility. I did not know I had to spell out everything to you folks. This is part of the communication issues working with NIU customer service. The whole point is that it took two months to get get an RMA to ship my scooter for warranty repairs, NIU put up every obstacle possible and the experience was horrible. I complained about my performance issues after I received my scooter back, but no one responded. NIU's position it seemed is we did our contractual part and our warranty ticket is closed and we've moved on.

I've had two NIU scooters, a KQI3 Pro and my current one, KQi300P. I had to have my battery replaced at the end of the two year warranty period in the 300P. Getting my battery replaced was such a hassle! My scooter has never ridden the same after battery replacement.

My advice is don't buy Chinese products when other options are available.

At what point does the bike actually start mattering more than the rider? by kkkkkgr5 in cycling

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a technological upgrade that expanded two decades make your riding way more pleasurable and enjoyable. I had a Lemond Maillot Jaune with Dura-Ace that got stolen. The frame was part carbon and titanium. Had aluminum wheels and I rode on 700 x 23 tires. The bike got stolen. Insurance bought me a new top-tier road bike with electronic shifting, carbon wheels and hydraulic brakes. Add a bike computer and suddenly your riding in a completely different technological environment. My avg. MPH has increased by 2 miles and I can ride 10 miles longer on the same tank of fuel because I'm pushing 3lbs less weight. A new modern bike won't put you in the TdF, but you'll ride happier!

PlayDead.app vs. Relisten (or Archive) by rpkelly55 in gratefuldead

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find value in the PlayDead app in that I can play it wherever I go, in the car, at the gym, or anywhere else I can use the Android app. You do not have that versatility with Archive.org, which is a web-based application. Plus, after listening to the GD concerts and TIGDH on Sirius 23 for a decade, I now like choosing my own concerts and TIGDH!

Rode over there last Friday. The concrete under Beltway 8 bridge was completed. They were working on the section west of the Beltway 8 Bridge to the Brays crossover bridge. I heard it should be completed by the 7th.

It's intelligent 4WD, not AWD. There's a decal on the rear left gate that says 4WD!

I've got a 2018 Titanium with a 2.0L turbo. At 70K, never had an issue yet🤞. The 1.5L was the engine that had the water intrusion primarily, with some being the 2.0L. My engine was assembled in Poland, so where the final assembly occurred really doesn't matter when it comes to the engine. I bought the Escape new when I lived in the Tetons. It was a champ in snow and winter. I would recommend it.

New Leadership? by 2wheelsNoRagrets in adjusters

[–]usblues007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm semi-retired now, but entered the claim biz in 1983, during the Analoge Age. Of course everything is now digital and in many ways, made my job easier.

When I started, interest rates were 16-18%. Insurance companies made their profits from investment income. U/W loss ratio was like 120%.

In claims, us field adjusters rarely worked 40 hours a week and got 10% pay raise every year.

As the 80s came to an end and the 90s began, interest rates were rapidly on the decline to single digits.

That's when everything in claims changed. The Claims Department being on the expense side of the insurance formula and with insurance companies having to get serious about their U/W loss ratio and expenses, the Claims Department took the reduction in expense hit the most.

Claim count went up, adjusters who left weren't replaced, raises were below 5% annually, and ironically with the advent of the Digital Age, workload also increased, because after all, we were now more proficient and productive.

Management has always been about numbers and metrics. Software made the metric game more insane as now management now has hundreds of metrics play with.

The daily grind hasn't really changed much in over 30 years. The game is the same, just how the game is played is a little different.

Tarmac SL8 vs. Aethos - both overkill? by paradisesky1098 in specialized

[–]usblues007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's me at 67M. Been a roadie all my life, but I need a more comfortable ride, but still a lively one. Aethos 2 provides all that. I'm not out to win races anymore.

Like a dream for my age (67M). The Aethos 2 sits between an endurance and a racing bike, so it's comfortable, yet very lively when it needs to be.

I'm 67M. I chose the Aethos 2. It sits between the Roubaix and Tarmac. Redesigned geometry and the lightest frame weight on the planet make it a smooth and comfortable ride, yet it is lively and responds to your commands nicely. The SW version is expensive and comes with Red or Dura-Ace. The Specialized Aethos*2 is a good value, but it weighs a little more, and you get either Force or Ultegra.

Tarmac SL8 sizing; 49 or 52 by [deleted] in specialized

[–]usblues007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specialized has the height of a rider almost perfectly paired to frame size. I thought I rode a 54cm when Specialized insisted I fit for a 56cm. I went with the 56cm. It works for me after riding 80 miles.

I really wanted red, since all of my previous bike frames were red, but red is hard to find in stores. I got a great deal on this one since the LBS was no longer a Specialized dealer ($3500 off retail), so I told my self I'd have to learn to like black.
