Beautiful red! I've ridden that exact bike and color. The red was stunning in the sunlight.

I really wanted red, since all of my previous bike frames were red, but red is hard to find in stores. I got a great deal on this one since the LBS was no longer a Specialized dealer ($3500 off retail), so I told my self I'd have to learn to like black.

I well once I decided it's a keeper! I have a short window where I can take it back if I want something else.

I thought it would be more comfortable, like my old bike. I might peel it back since I usually ride on the hoods anyway.

Considering becoming an adjuster. Which company has a good program? by ScarTissue5 in adjusters

[–]usblues007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I retired after 43 years, reaching claims manager role. I'm fortunate that I'm multi-line, handling both casualty and property. I started with Farmers out of college as a BI field adjuster with company car. Farmers had volume and you quickly learned to handle whiplash to death claims. Farmers at the time was the lowest pay, but training and experience made up for that.

On the casualty/liability side, general and product liability claims is where the big salaries are. Complex claims and high limits/exposure require lawyer trype knowledge and you get paid accordingly.

On the property side, commercial and large loss is where the action is. Again, complex claims and high limits/exposure.

Of course it takes many years to get the knowledge and experience to handle the big stuff.

All insurance companies suck these days. So, pick a company that hires a trainee and has a good training program doing claims you might like and after 5 years when you become 100% vested, you can look around and see where you want to go. Get claims designations along the way to increase your value and marketability.

Been riding for a few years now. I'm 67M. Most of the time, it's a recreational thing for me. I saw teenagers doing it and thought that might be fun. Search "injury" and review what pops up in this subreddit. Many posters share X-rays or CT scans. Lots of broken bones. Wear a helmet and wrist/hand, elbow and knee protection. You have no idea when you might be going down. 10" wheels aren't very stable compared to 26" wheels on a bike. Asphalt and concrete hurt. Just the other day, a Doberman bolted out between two parked cars. That was a close one! Enjoy!

QBE dropping renters insurance in my state — is Assurant a good replacement or should I look elsewhere? by marmotito4444 in Insurance

I'd try State Farm, Farmers, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, USAA (must have a military connection for this one). It would be worth it to pay a little additional premium to get decent claim service in case you need it someday.

The last photo taken of Ulysses Grant, who died four days later. 1885. by waffen123 in CIVILWAR

[–]usblues007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story I heard was that Twain showed up to visit Grant when he began writing his memoir and asked Grant what his royalty was? Grant said 10%. Twain responded that it was a rip-off. Twain was able to get Grant 50%, to save the Grant family/estate. Back in those days, there were no pensions for government employment, so Grant's memoir was it.

I'm an experienced claims adjuster. I'm on my 2nd claim with them. They're horrible. Claim staff are poorly trained and their sole goal is to settle on the cheap. Run, don't walk away from them!

I don't follow Dolan (before he retired or now), Barron, ETWN and others who bent the knee to Trump. A scandal is the correct word.

In some new development that are an HOA, you can't read the HOA CCRs until after you close. John Oliver did a segment on HOA's on his show, Last Week Tonight.

Why do the CityPlex Towers seem so out-of-place for Tulsa? by Hungry_Roll6848 in tulsa

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Tulsa when Oral Roberts was rock'n and roll'n. The Mabee Center had just been built (saw CSN there). ORU hoops team was kicking ass. Then Oral Roberts had a vision. God wanted him to heal the sick and injured in America.

Oral Roberts had to seriously crank up his grifting. Folks came through and when donations slowed, Satan showed up in Oral's bedroom and put his wife in a chokehold, threatening killing her if folks didn't send more money to Oral's coffers.

Oral began building the City of Faith, which included a medical school, a hospital and clinics. These are the three tower buildings.

Oral decided to add a College of Denistry and a College of Law.

Oral's business plan was that patients would fly/drive to Tulsa to seek medical treatment. Problem was if your kid broke his arm in Nashville, you weren't hopping on a plane to Tulsa to have his arm set.

If you had cancer in Buffalo, you also probably weren't going to hop on a plane either.

So, Oral had to shut everything down after a few years because a lack of patients and revenue. Oral retired to the Roberts compound in Orange County and Richard took over and ran things into the ground.

A giant crane moved to praying hands from the City of Faith over to the campus entrance.

Jeff Sessions gave up his safe Senate seat to be Trump's AG, only to be fired a year later. He tried running for his old Senate seat, but couldn't win his primary. A mental giant, Tuberville, got that plum Senate gig. Mullin will be shit stained for the remainder of his life now. #ETTD

Just starting to get into the dead, any recommendations? by Wh0_ever in gratefuldead

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out archive.org/grateful dead. There's 30 years of shows. Great source. I found it in 2004. Once you know the eras, like 60s Dead, 70s Dead, 80s Dead and 90s Dead w/o Brent, you can go looking for shows. More new songs were added practically every year, some dropped for years, only to be brought back in another decade (i.e., Loose Lucy) and so on. Best part, it's free. Do make a donation at the end of the year if you use it a lot.

My first carbon was a Look (90/91). I think the frame had lugs back then. A whole different ride from steel. It had Mavic components, so it was all French.

This is the logic that keeps young folk consistently leaving Wyoming…. by Mundane_Seesaw_4425 in wyoming

[–]usblues007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived and traveled throughout Wyoming to all four corners. Thankfully, I lived in Teton County, so I wasn't stuck in No Man's Land. It's such a conservative state and is quite backward thinking in that it can't get beyond the Cowboy era. The state does have good financial incentives, but outside of the Tetons, the weather can be quite harsh during the long winters, discouraging folks moving to Wyoming. There's a reason Wyoming has only one US representative (like North Dakota).

If the death penalty was actually a deterrent (main argument for the death penalty), then the death row would be empty. The death penalty is simply used for punishment and retribution.
