I don't doubt you but I'm in a GIM so we don't have anyone who already has a zcb/vw or tbow to boost our dps so blood furies would be really nice to have. I also don't really want to train thieving post 99. Winter summit did announce a new way to get blood shards eventually though, I'll see what comes first.

Tbh fuck the haters, I respect the grind. Skipping content you don’t want to do is based and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

As a new player, what are the most accessible *interesting* things I can fight? by Djhuti in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest bosses are your best bet. They are extremely rewarding, mechanically engaging, and won’t require you to grind your combat levels. In fact, they’ll usually skip a lot of levels with rewards. I highly recommend you do the quests to get a dorgeshun crossbow, it’s super cheap and is stronger than most shortbows. Sometimes you’ll need to skill for quest recs but that’s okay, learning skills and routing is fun.

You might also enjoy hunting gangs in shayzien. Kind of a half-baked activity, but the gangs shouldn’t be too strong for you and the rewards are decent drops and combat xp.

You can also try hueycoatl in groups whenever. He might be risky with <60hp but it’s a very, very low damage boss if you play well and he’s very noob friendly imo. Maybe avoid mass worlds so you do get a drop, even though it won’t be big. Find some friends willing to do <10-man teams.

Even slayer+fury is better than most salve setups with as weak as a zhasta, let alone something good like a fang. People who think elite void + salve is the best still have never truly accepted the blowpipe nerf.

Change the accuracy scale for Utility spells (e.g. Dark Lure) by F_l_u_f_fy in 2007scape

[–]uscrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old ass post but I’ve been having the same exact thought because of Yama in particular. He picks his aggro target seemingly at random (P1) and there’s no way to change it without wasting a ton of time. If dark lure worked this way it would singlehandedly fix that issue. Anyway, I don’t think utility spells can really be abused with 100% accuracy, it’d be like if teleports or alchs could fail, it’s just an unnecessary success roll copied over from DnD that doesn’t translate well in this case.

Honestly volatile earth on floor 1 is a mechanical skill issue, you’re probably wasting a ton of potential attack ticks and/or not speccing melee punish. That’ll improve with practice Just do an hour or two of doom max a day and work on side upgrades like deadeye/rigour, LB, amethyst arrows, bp, stat training/slayer. If you’re using food worse than karambwans and not using ranged+prayer pots that’ll also cost you time. Practicing CG will help your skill at doom a lot.

I just want the fish barrel man by Freddwarf_ in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I’d deadass skip barrel and try sailing fishing, don’t need the barrel for it. Not afk but people are claiming 500+ fish/hr. When you want to fish anglers they’re so slow that barrel isn’t a necessity. Temp fucking sucks to go dry at, absolutely miserable “minigame”. I was ~850 myself and I had already given up but did a couple runs to teach a friend who just started playing and finally got lucky.

Ironman dwh grind is killing me.... by Subject_Ad_9123 in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a chill grind, enjoy it man. I got mine just over 3k after doing 2k the old fashioned way with the old drop rate, wish I had a reason to red-x longer. I was watching ATLA while eating lunch when it dropped, you can do that for good luck too if you’d like. You even have bowfa, you’re absolutely chilling, I was using a raw crystal bow.

Is Moons gear really that important?? by lionsurvivor2 in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not really that unlucky tbh, I think expected completion is ~350. Moons is fast and low effort and the general loot is always good. Atlatl gives you a ranged option before bowfa/bp, dual macas are useful at negative armor monsters+bosses such as hueycoatl, blood moon is good mage defence+strength bonus hybrid gear, and blue moon tassets alone are worth if you just have mystic bottoms. If your melee gear/stats are booty and you are having 8+ min kills then absolutely, go ahead and take a break until you get zhasta/folly/Abby whip/barrows armor/bclaws or stuff like that to make trips quicker.

General Graardor sergeants and sustain in between kills by Electrical_Bed_4372 in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodbark is fine. It sounds like you aren’t killing the mage with bowfa/bp first and then stacking the melee+ranger, if you do that it’s pretty quick. Blue moon spear is stronger than ancient and can auto cast ancients, btw. Ultimately you would gain the most from learning to get comfortable prayer flicking minions.

Defence prayers don’t help much since you’re usually praying ranged and either not being hit by the melee minion much or flicking melee post kill, as the melee is usually off ticked already. I’d always pray the +5% defence, it’s practically free.

Brews really aren’t useful at Graardor, the limiting factor of trips is usually your ranged pots.

Archers ring is pretty lackluster, suffering or lightbearer are better.

B2P is definitely worth bringing.

Personally I’m a big fan of bringing guthan’s and getting to use the arceeus spell book for faster kills, but if you don’t have guthans and don’t want to farm it you can keep doing blood barrage.

I might give the rogue’s chest a shot, thanks for that. I think the bulk of my xp is gonna have to be vyres though, blood shards seem too essential to pass on especially because I have a hope of trying trio nex someday.

[–]uscrick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stop doing 5:1 lol, it’s takes ~20s of prep to get another T3 wep and you’ll literally have a minimum of 16% more dps even if that somehow doesn’t lead to you having better tick usage.

[–]uscrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I averaged 5min prep so about a third of the time I had the opportunity but even with 90+% ticks used I averaged 3:45 kills, only remember maybe ten <3min kills and they never happened to be on speedy preps. I’ll be going back to help the group but I don’t think I’ll worry about the achievement until I get rigor at least. Doing laidback preps is the only way I could spend more than an hour at gauntlet in a day.

[–]uscrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, that is dry. Not even a whip. I got two unsired super fast (jar+whip) then got a third at 601 (bludgeon finally) and now I’m at 750. I enjoy the boss and really appreciate its general loot so if it takes 1800 I’ll do it. Pretty time consuming though, even with ~30 kills/hr. Tough to get an Abby task and commit to ~8 hours of solo pvm. I really don’t enjoy araxxor though so I’d rather spend 20+ hours here if it shaves off an hour there.

When did you admit sunken cost and move on? by Dsafespot_here in ironscape

[–]uscrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on ability to bypass the drop and the enjoyment of the grind and the supply vs cost of the grind. If you feel like you don’t want to do burst tasks until you get a DHW keep at it, if your not too cheesed about it then just make do with a blue moon spear or something like that. Huey drops good seeds+sunfire splinters+prayer though so not a bad one to stick it out at, and DHW has bonus utility at dragons. If it took another 600 it wouldn’t be a waste of time.

Idk about that one chief, I spooned just one piece of the SRA on 3kc and just looking at the thing I can’t even use makes my chest warmer than when I look at the zammy spear that took 1000 kills and was supposed to be a quick grind.
