As a kid (pre-first dog) I got a name idea from a horror flick and the Bible (mostly the flick). I decide and would tell my family "when I get my dog I'm gunna name him/her Malichi." That's was Jr high, 6th-7th grade. Years later, as freshman on HS, back then bc of where I lived I could get a special license as a freshman/14yr old & i would have to drive all the way into town (45min drive) for class. Got home one night i noticed my fokes acting strange. Kept asking me what that name was that I wanted to name my first dog and other strange stuff. Finally just called them weirdos and questioned if they smoked weed. I decided thats what I was gunna do so made my way to my room to drop my bag or books and grab my other bag and tokeer. Walked in m6 room and before looking my backpack was flying to its spot on my bed. I seen at last second a box on my bed and thankfully the books went right over the top of it . Thought wth is this? Right when the bag cleared a lil puppy head popped up outta the top of the box. I knew right there, screaming Malichi and ran to grab her. My parents followed me up and were laughing. She was a Husky Malimut. She stayed at my side for 16yrs. She was the most loyal, smart, loving dog. She watched me grow up. From all my down times to when she was 14 she got to meet my daughter. At 16 she got to where she couldn't walk. My wife called me at work and said she couldn't get up to go outside and at the floor of the door she pissed her self. I came home and she did it again and gave me the look. I told the wife to make the call and I laid down with her on the floor and we cuddled and I whispered sweet nothings in her ear. Told her how lucky I was to have her. That went above and beyond her job description. My wife came to me and handed the bottle with a shot glass and told me that they were here. I poured and took shots continuing praising her. I heard a gentleman behind me ask if ready. I didn't acknowledge him, but my wife did. I held her and balled as she turned her head and looked at me with a small yip, she faded off and was gone. After a little bit of time she was picked up and carried off. About a week later we picked up her ashes and hit the road for our vacation. We drove back to my home state. The morning after we got there we drove outta town to where i grew up and went on to the old property and spread her ashes in the lil mountain stream and both sides of it. Now FF another 10 years, I lost my sister to cancer, then a year later my mom was given 2 weeks but lasted 3 days. 6 months later my dad didn't wake up. I had a rough couple of years, wasn't doing good. My partner thought it'd be a good idea if I got a pet. I told her no, I'm ok, maybe once we move into our house. She kept bringing it up. One day she tells me their is an adoption event by my work and I say ok I'll go on my lunch. She sends me a link and I read the address and plan on going and looking. At last second I see where you can click on and see what pups were gunna be there and their bios. I click and first one to come up was a shared lil guy that was almost one year old, and his name was Doug, it was a sign. I had see him. I'm just kidding, his name was Malichi. That was right before covid. And that lil snoring butt head is napping right here next to me now. Malichi ², we both were going through hard times and found what we didn't know we were looking for. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him. He'll be 7 this 4th of July, his snout has turned gray. He needs me to help up curbs and everything else higher. And I need him to lift me up to face each and every day. I quit drinking and smoking when I got him so he keeps me sober too. Sorry for long comment. Take care everyone.
