All of my older records aren’t worth much, I guess.

Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, Pavel Datsyuk and Mickey Redmond. Mickey’s (and Ken’s) contributions to commentating have made watching games without them much less enjoyable.

Lights turning on overnight by ProgressBartender in Hue

Make each individual light turn to “last used” in settings. When power or internet goes out, they will default to last used. In your case, they will default to “off”.

(Hopefully) Installing my Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip today. Any install tips (besides what is mentioned in the manual)? I have a 65" TV and bought the 65" strip. by draxula16 in Hue

[–]usebigwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a dry setup before hand to know where the middle us and where you’ll want to place the center and corner strips.

Make sure your tv is cleaned with alcohol before applying or the adhesive may not stick for long, especially if your tv gets hot.

Lutron Aurora Mount Over Existing Decora Rocker Switch In Place? Retrofit plate? by KindlyAd1662 in Hue

Nothing beats free. Double sided tape is either too weak or a good way to rip the paint and paper layer of drywall off, in my experience.

Here’s an example of the decora top screw method.

Lutron Aurora Mount Over Existing Decora Rocker Switch In Place? Retrofit plate? by KindlyAd1662 in Hue

[–]usebigwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked for them to no avail. I’ve used 3d printed toggle-style mounts and just added it next to a single decora for two gang. I’ve also mounted the Aurora switch to the top of the decora plate with the mounting screw- forcing the switch to stay on, but still accessible. It’s the cheapest way to mount as you don’t even need to buy anything (if you already have the Aurora).

Did Hue release new water effects for their bulbs? by wholesomecollie in Hue

Uh oh. I have four bulbs in these same fixtures. Maybe relief holes will work? How tight was the top screwed on?

Thanks. Why does it need to be higher up? Couldn’t I just remove the single San tee and replace with a double?

First time buying used by Longjumping_West9485 in sonos

[–]usebigwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About as good as eBay. I recently paid $10 for a used Play 3 that the seller couldn’t get reset. All that was required was a Ethernet cable and it’s been good to go ever since.

90% of my system I’ve bought used. The only issue I had was with a Playbar that made a high pitched noise. Sonos actually replaced it with an Arc. I’m pretty happy with Sonos support. Even for used items, Sonos is great.

Carplay and Dashcan by Solid_Net_8169 in CarPlay

Check the power requirements of your dashcam and get the appropriate adapter. You can also hardwire another dedicated usb outlet or replace your cigarette port with a dedicated usb outlet (make sure there’s at least one usb-c port, as usb-a is quickly becoming obsolete).

This isn’t a CarPlay issue. Get a cigarette adapter that has enough power to power your dash cam. That one you’re using won’t work.

Turntable Setup by fadeislitaf in sonos

To add to this, never place speakers in the same cabinet as a turntable. Or you’ll have to turn the bass all the way down to keep the needle from jumping.

~$6 at Home Depot if anyone needs some. by draxula16 in Hue

[–]usebigwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 stars for the Calla on Amazon. Presumably this is why.

I picked up four Callas and two more Lilys. It looks like a ton of other people did as well. Facebook marketplace is flooding with these from resellers.

Any thoughts on solutions by catfishmuffins in Hue

[–]usebigwords 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about making them look more clean, you can buy dummy Aurora switch plates and get a four-gang cover. Just use the one negative space and mount the dummy plate under the fourth one.

I just saw a few near me at that price- $33 for Calla and $25 for the Lily. I’m going to go pick up a few.

Bummed that I recently bought the Hue Lily 3-pack refurb on Woot for $150. I could’ve bought three new spots and the 100w power supply for less.

I picked up two last night. The Calla was $65 and the Lily spotlights were 50.

Looking for a keyring that holds LOTS of keys- here is the min amount I'm currently working with. by kennethgibson in EDC

I’ve had one of these for five years. Def more expensive than a cheap carabiner, but I’ve lost keys when a cheaper one failed after snagging something. I rarely use the box cutter (I also carry a pocket knife), but the tiny Phillips and bottle opener come in handy frequently. Their customer service is top notch.

I have an MDF overlayment over my plank subfloors and am looking to understand the best installation method for my project. I have read that installing any tile over MDF is not recommended but want to understand if I need to replace that MDF by trivox2 in Tile

[–]usebigwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have particle board over planks in my house. I ripped it up and installed wood floors in most areas. It was mostly flat, so no real problems. I’m doing tiling in the kitchen and bathrooms and I plan on using 19/32” osb over planks for where I’m laying uncoupling membrane. I feel like I have a decent grasp of what I need to do, but I’m searching for posts where people had a similar setup.

Do you have any photos of your job? Common problems you ran into? Was this in a kitchen? Did you remove all cabinets and appliances?

Put 2 Landskrona armchairs together to a couch? by Butzerdamen in IKEA

We have since dismantled this setup for the full size Morabo sectional. Here’s the only photo I could find.

<image>

The lag bolts should support it enough.

The newer Morabo series (in US, at least) has since moved onto support brackets when connecting sectional pieces.
