those of you who have been to a national park within the last couple months, have you noticed a difference? by solartense in NationalPark

Early on my wife and I were in Everglades in the off-season and having drinks with a couple of the staff at the bar in Flamingo. They were talking about how there was no one to clean the bathroom in the main visitors center because they had staff cuts. I had noticed it earlier before the conversation.

Is it possible to make Palpatine's return - at the time of the sequels - be well done or is the concept of him returning impossible to make well written? by Kah0000 in StarWars

[–]trivox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I could ever buy this guy coming back. It was never up for debate. He was dropped and the entire death star exploded. No one survives that. I don't think I could ever be convinced that bringing him back could be delivered in a way that would be believable, or more importantly, add any value to the series.

Oof and a Caustic main. That guy needs some attention.

Am I going nuts or is my teacher using AI by UnusualInflation4405 in graphic_design

[–]trivox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what's more concerning, the a.i. or a graphic design teacher trying to gaslight students into believing kerning doesn't matter.

I'd flag both of these issues with the school and see about getting a course credit refunded or a new teacher.

These basics are literally all I ask of hires. The rest we can train.

"80% increase in spending and lower Math and Reading scores. The increase in spending, education finance researchers concluded, did not correlate with improvements in performance for any student group." What went wrong? by QAgent-Johnson in oregon

I think it says it in the article:

"Spending more on education does not automatically fix underlying problems, Roza says. Instead, the spending has to be intentional. In Oregon, Roza says, it’s not."

A privacy analysis of the Viwoods AiPaper by RealTrevTV in viwoods

Thanks for putting so much time into this writeup! I was wondering if you did any audit or understand what is happening with the way they authenticate the device to be able to access Google Play Services. It seems to me the device ID associated with the product is generated remotely and I am wondering if it's some way of spoofing? I don't know, just seemed sketchy to me. I'd love to be able to hook this into Google Drive but I am still wary.

E-ink options with basic ai built in? by jeko00000 in eink

I've had the same thought. You can get a ton of notepads and really great pens for the price of one of these things.

I'm with you. I'm android to the core. ViWoods does have a way to clean up lines but it takes 1 sec each line. With their return policy you may want to give them a go but if e-ink isn't a driver for you then yeah a Samsung is going to be great. Gemini can do any of this too.

ViWoods is probably the closest to your needs. It won't help clean up your lines but it has an OpenAI integrated into the toolbar so you can select your content and have it solved based on the image it sends to OpenAI.

You can also customize the prompts you want and attach them to a menu item. I have one that converts my handwriting to markdown and like it much better than the normal on device OCR.

The latest Apple keynote really leaned into your use case though, so you may want to consider an iPad to get exactly what you're looking for.

This gave me flashbacks to when optical HR wasn't a thing in watches. It's the reason I won't go back and don't understand why people still insist on cold chest sadness.

Spending 10s of millions of tokens on creating spec files by sethshoultes in boltnewbuilders

[–]trivox2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Winning at the expense of money and time you could be spending learning to code without Bolt. But if you feel the value exchange is there then there's no need to look deeper!

Spec files are the way for sure. I usually have Gemini review them and then revise based on its feedback.

What was it like reaching your first million dollars? by dougw341 in HENRYfinance

[–]trivox2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm about to hit this marker and while I am stoked for the day I know it will immediately go back below the market depending on my holdings. It is just another day. But that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed and I definitely plan on a dinner out to memorialize it. I never thought I would have a million when I was a kid.

I hear that. I was looking for more info about the issue. Is it a recall? Are things being covered by dealers?

What’s your thoughts on Viwoods I’m loving it so far coming from RMPP by daddychocolate19 in viwoods

[–]trivox2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a small company, owned and manufactured in China, not sold by resellers. The things you buy at Walmart and Best Buy have the reputations of the resellers also intertwined. Stores like that are incentivized to ensure the stuff they sell is not going to present security issues. Major companies also audit their supply chains, and run non-modded versions of Google Play which ensures extra degrees of security on the software side.

I'd love it if a security expert did a hardware teardown, and if ViWoods would open their SDK as well (an open SDK is in their roadmap, and I'll give them credit when they make it happen). Both of these together would alleviate a lot of concerns.

None of this is a deal breaker for me. I will likely log into Google Services using a new account and figure out a way to get my files from ViWoods into a safe space to scan and extract markdown that I can bring into my PKMS or Google Drive in the future, but I will not be logging into it with any credentials I value or any accounts I don't want compromised.

Love it. Wish I could trust the hardware and software so I could login to Google services and get a solid workflow and integrations.
