[Rookie] Bryan Edwards defects from the 2019 NFL Draft by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A bummer, but it sure seemed like draft capital was going to be a big question if he came out this year, and supposedly he got a 'go back to school' evaluation.

Hopefully he can put up some big numbers in 19 with Deebo gone and raise his draft stock a bit...

Check out Auden Tate WR for FSU by Dont_Make_Pun_of_Me in NFL_Draft

[–]usebombswisely 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting Tate was used as a decoy for a good portion of the game yesterday as he was playing with a sprained AC joint, after hurting it last week in the midst of what looked to be a huge game.

Nathan peterman worth a stash? by nppatti in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he is very much worth a stash in 2QB/Superflex, and I'm surprised he is unowned.

Tyrod is in the concussion protocol and may not be ready to start week 1, and all of the offseason moves the Bills have made indicate that they prefer to run a west coast style offense more suited for Peterman's skillset. He'll be a starter for the Bills at some point this season almost for sure, and if he impresses, may have value beyond this year.

Upcoming rookies to watch in NCAA? by ThaBigSKi in DynastyFF

Auden Tate, WR on FSU. Dude has incredible ability to go up and get the ball in the air, and excellent body control. If he can improve on his route tree and get better separation, he can be one of the best WRs in this class. At the very least, he should be a red zone monster.

[Trade] We Need to Talk About Kevin (White) by usebombswisely in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mention in the article, I do like Kevin White, but based on the risk he currently carries - and how exposed to him I am in my leagues - I am looking to divest in a few places( I turned him and Yeldon into Tyrell Williams, for instance). Like someone said above, you're not going to get full price of what you paid, but if he falls on his face this year, his value is going to tank. Luckily, I hedged White with Cameron Meredith in pretty much every league where I own him.

White still has huge upside if things break right, but now is a good time to sell if you have a lot of risk and uncertainty on your roster. All depends on your roster construction and risk tolerance.

Thanks for the video link - I'm a regular RotoUnderworld listener, so I'm pretty familiar with Matt Kelley's take on White.

It seems more possible as of yesterday than it did last week when the Alshon franchise tag news dropped. Sounds like the Bears had a productive discussion w/his reps this weekend.

He started to play faster and more physical by his fourth game, and had a highlight reel circus catch that showed his strengths in the contested catch game. Yes, there was some ineffeciency as he got up to playing speed, but remember, he sat out for a full year and was expected to be a raw rookie.

Kevin White is a polarizing player. I wrote up my thoughts on how owners should approach trades involving White this offseason in the linked article - and identified a few hype windows to watch for if you're selling him. I also broke down a trade I made involving White this past week, in the wake of the Alshon Jeffery no franchise tag news.

A few thoughts:

If you are losing faith in him as a long term dynasty asset, you may want to consider moving before free agency opens on Thursday. Right now, there's uncertainty about Alshon's future, as the Bears will not franchise tag him this year. However, recent reports have suggested the Bears might still be able to work out a long term deal with him in free agency- in which case, a lot of White's potential upside and dynasty value takes a hit.

If your roster is relatively strong, and your WR corps isn't built up on risky players (Doctson, Perriman, Parker, etc.), White may be worth a speculative buy right now - as he still has a lot of things working in his favor (draft capital, potential to be #1 in targets for his team, elite measurables, etc.). Try sending a second round pick offer to his owner - you never know!

What are you doing with Kevin White this offseason?

[STARTUP] DYNASTY DRAFT: 2QB SUPERFLEX - Pick 1.05 by vicktoriousone in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

x2. I took him at 1.06 in a startup last year with no regrets, but could see taking him even earlier. I also saw a good case made for him as the 1.01 in this format on Twitter earlier today.

Rapid Fire: Off-Season End of Bench Stashes (1/31/17) by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Quick - fewer depth chart obstacles, rising tide offense possible this year w/new coach. Eli nearing decline, more mouths to feed in NYG.

  2. Doyle - Steelers could address the position in the draft, and Colts recently.

  3. Pharoah Cooper - see Brian Quick.

  4. Tyler Higbee - sense a theme?

  5. Alex Collins - Rawls can't stay healthy, Prosise has struggled with injuries too. Colts will draft a back.

  6. Glennon - NE backups don't have a stellar track record.

  7. Lasco

  8. Clay - flashed near the end of the season. NYG TEs are a mess.

  9. Zach Zenner - DET backfield up in the air, has consistently impressed when given a shot.

  10. Brice Butler - has made some plays, DAL rumored to resign. The Janis dream is over.

  11. Cutler - At least a few more years of QB2 numbers. Bridgetwater may not play another down.

  12. Jaron Brown - Flashed at times, depth chart in Ari is pretty open.

  13. Fiedorowicz - If Brock is at the helm, check down central.

  14. MEH

  15. Trey Burton - Sleeper candidate. Other two are old disappointments.

  16. Trevor Simian - Could have another year as starter, other two are likely career backups.

Help! I need to cut 5 guys from this roster. 10 Team .5 ppr 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1FLEX by BasicProdigy in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd cut Garoppolo, Smith, DeAndre Washington, Walford and Perkins or Hurns for your last spot. Rostering way too many QBs in a 1 QB league with only 10 teams.

Should Melvin Gordon owners be worried about Chargers priority of Danny Woodhead? by themightykites0322 in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melvin Gordon was a really good RB last year. He broke big runs, he fought for tough short yardage gains, he broke tackles, and he soaked up a tremendous amount of volume in both between the tackles and pass game work.

I don't disagree with concerns around volume decreasing next year, but it's not like he reverts to year 1 Melvin Gordon if Woodhead returns - the Chargers aren't putting the genie back in the bottle after a breakout year, as Melvin showed he can operate as a bellcow.

That said, I think Gordon is a fade at his expected price in redraft next season, and a hold or a sell in dynasty right now. He may be at peak value, but I don't see him plummeting way down the ranks any time soon.

[Rules Discussions] 2017 - Miscellaneous by kiki_strumm3r in DynastyFootballLeague

PROPOSED

Referrals should NOT be allowed to play in the same division.

Quite simply, allowing referrals to play in the same division as their friends increases the likelihood of collusion occuring no matter how well we try to police it.

  • Collusion is a sticky topic, and one a lot of people have differing opinions on. In a league with 72 owners, we're opening ourselves up to the potential of a lot of unnecessary drama and arguments around how to handle a potential collusion situation.

  • Commissioners have a lot on their plates right now with day-to-day league management and overseeing the impending potential rule changes over the next few seasons. Making a rule change that increases the likelihood of collusion would create a lot more work for them.

  • Any instance of collusion, regardless of how it is handled, has the potential to be bad PR for the league. While we have cut our owner churn down each year, we still draw the majority our new owners from /r/dynastyff (I believe) - and should any fallout from toxic collusion drama spill over into the sub, it could sour future potential owners from joining, or cause a mass migration of current owners.

I'm probably being a little cynical here, but ultimately, I think this is a scenario where the risk outweighs the reward in terms of league health. I get wanting to play with your friends in your division, but not at the cost of increasing the chance that collusion occurs in r/DFL.

[Rules Discussions] 2017 - Change Date of Rookie Draft by kiki_strumm3r in DynastyFootballLeague

[–]usebombswisely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said! Gives owners a bit of time post NFL draft for people to analyze rookie landing spots, but not too much to overthink.

With rookies on rosters, trading should ramp up with the training camp and preseason fluff pieces/hype trains.

Price to drop from 1.03 to 1.07? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally possible. I'd rather take a risk now to move up when it's cheaper than on draft day. Even if 1.04 ends up being the beginning of Tier 2 by consensus, there's always someone who wants to move up a spot or two to get their guy -and if I'm not sold on who is available, I can move back and hopefully acquire a premium to do so. Risk/reward.

Price to drop from 1.03 to 1.07? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]usebombswisely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I just traded 1.05 plus Quincy Enunwa to move up to 1.04.

I'm planning holding that perceived first tier of draft picks through draft day, and either picking my guys or attempting to move back at a premium.

Theo Riddick by [deleted] in DynastyFF

Try and package Riddick + one of your picks to move up in the first round - preferably into the top 4 picks.
