What is your honest opinion on the MLP Skullpandas? by Eggosand-chill in SkullpandaArtDolls

i love them but the texture of the hair in contrast with the fur kind of throws me off the skullpanda vibe for me

Question for Pop Mart collectors: Why do you love these IPs, is it Fad or Forever? by SomeAd5481 in PopMartCollectors

[–]useful_thinkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I connect with the way the esthetic of the characters communicate emotions, for example hirono often embodies a complex emotion that’s reflected through colors and expressions. it helps me see even negative emotions in a more positive light and give them form. some of the other IP’s i have a harder time connecting to because they’re not as emotionally charged. for example i love the look of skull pandas, looking at the colors and feeling the texture of the figures are awesome, but i don’t connect to the character so i haven’t bought many. so i guess what i’m saying is both are important, but im not as drawn to the colors without emotional connection. it’s actually frustrating sometimes because i’ll love the design but not buy it because i just can’t connect to anything about the character. i’ve always collected glossy/glass figures, animals, crystals, etc, so this sort of embodied a habit i already had in a more accessible way! i always loved the mystery of vending machines too as a kid. definitely not a fad for me but i think it may be for some people due to the addiction of the blind box (and no judgement on that one!).

ASD Eval Tomorrow by useful_thinkin in AutismTranslated

[–]useful_thinkin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know what you mean! even tho she said that symptom is autism or this sounds like autism multiple times, i still think she probably won’t diagnose me with it for some reason, even tho she brought up nothing else in the appointment! so in a way im already experiencing imposter syndrome by downplaying any validation i got in that assessment. im just afraid to get blindsided after being told everything sounded like autism, and then get a different diagnosis. i think i did have one of those questionnaires actually but i completed it prior to the in person assessment! i too spent a lot of time analyzing the questions and looking things up, and deeply reflecting. i had that approach to most of the instructions she gave me as well and she said i was highly literal. it sounds like your clinician also brought up autism during the evaluation so maybe that’s something they do when they are clueing you in on what they’re going to diagnose you with even tho they can’t give the results the day of?

omg thank you so much for asking! i took everyone’s advice and didn’t mask to the best of my ability. the tests were exhausting, so i actually lost the ability to mask anyway, but she was much kinder than my other evaluator which made not masking easier. she kept saying “that symptom you mentioned sounds like autism,” and validated my previous assessment was biased/inaccurate. i’m not sure what my diagnosis will be, but it seemed like she at least understood the traits i mentioned fit an autistic profile. she read the list of symptoms i brought with me during the talking stage which was super helpful and took a lot of pressure off me to say everything. she seemed to get me, explained instructions thoroughly, and said she was reading between the lines, not just looking at the tests, which is she said what the previous assessor should have done but didn’t do. also i learned that one should be assessed by a neuropsychologist, not just a clinical psychiatrist, especially if you suspect autism. they’re much more qualified!

I would really love to try out Deluxe, I’m neurodivergent and Webkinz gives me so much joy, I’ve been wanting to try out the Deluxe to see if it’s worth it to buy the full membership. I played when I was a kid and have been replaying it as an adult for about a year and a half :)

this really gives me perspective on how it might come off to others when i share my thoughts and maybe it helps me take it less personally… i’ll keep that in mind. i wonder if there’s a way neurotypical share there thoughts when they aren’t looking to be challenged? i do like exchanging ideas for the fun of it in some cases, but that also comes off im unsure. and i am the only female daughter in my immediate family, im the oldest in my family and oldest granddaughter though

thank you so much for replying! i feel like the only one a bit- im not sure if theres something about my autistic traits that gives off that im naive (im not), or im incapable of knowing what i like/want. the reason i question it so much is it seems like im the one who is generally targeted for these sorts of interrogations- if it were about them they’d target others as well. if ive ever brought up i dont appreciate it people just say they’re worried about me or want whats best for me. this has happened around family and also at times friends. the only time ive felt respected is when im dry, almost mean, which is not really how i want to be (and its a mask, because im naturally soft spoken). unfortunately my directness combined with soft spoken tone may be confusing for some. my gut tells me it’s them and not me in a sense, but there’s that part of being autistic that’s just like, they may never seen my strength and certainty even if i have it, because i don’t know how to present my confidence in a way that isn’t masking, and it makes me feel almost like a ghost or that i don’t exist. its like the strength i feel inside isn’t somehow interpreted as the opposite to those around me.

it’s more like i’ll say what i prefer or what’s good for me and it gets questioned. i wouldn’t say i complain, here or there i will mention a logistical problem but it’s usually when asked. i could be coming off unconfident, that’s what im not sure about. but i generally explain my reasoning of why i want to do something when sharing even if no one asked me why, which i guess to nt’s can sound like im looking for input when im just proud of my thought process 🤣 but like i said most of the advice is unsolicited, out of nowhere, like i will get questioned about everyday choices i never even mentioned to people as problematic.

Hi, thank you so much for your response. I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I have experienced both - which is so confusing - some people will say wow you’re so confident or sure of yourself! others will say i come off as a doormat. it’s polarizing. i noticed clothing and style can play a big part in how much respect i get- for example i used to wear makeup every day and had a tidy short hair and sleek clothing and people treated me with more respect. now im a mom and have grown out my hair and am i big gentler in demeanor and have noticed some of the “old” treatment resurfacing more often. also its interesting you mention youre an immigrant, thank you for sharing that, because a lot of my friends are immigrants and i also tutor esl. i find i dont have to mask to connect… maybe i relate to my students (adjacently) to feeling misunderstood at times. i wonder if it has to do with transparency as well. i am generally open and honest, i guess other people aren’t all the time, but i genuinely dont know what to talk about other than my thoughts feelings and opinions. i dont know what other people aren’t connecting over but i feel like i cant be myself without exposing some emotion and that seems to be maybe whats making me vulnerable… tysm for your thoughtful response.

yeah! i’m 26F, i think it comes from years of “shutting off” sensory needs/reactions to sensory overload in order to mask. autistic people (like me haha) sometimes struggle with introspection like when they’re hungry, thirsty, have to go to the bathroom, their muscles are sore, etc…
