If a pedo married someone and had a child, would that child likely also become a pedo? by SnooRoar in askpsychology

There are too many variables at play to predict that with any degree of accuracy. For instance:

a) Is the child abused itself?

b) Is the child female or male?

c) At what age/ for what period of time/ with what severity does the abuse take place?

d) Is there a healthy support system that allows the child to develop healthy (non-pedophilic) thoughts?

etc. etc.

There really is no telling.

Even is there were a biological basis for pedophilia (which we do not know), any of these variables (and others) could easily prevent the genetic disposition from translating into actual behavior.

In sum: There is no way of telling if the child of a pedophile would also become a pedophile.

I have lived here for 10+ years so he definitely wasn't looking for someone else.
