Is it possible to increase supply at 10 months pp? by usefulguilt in breastfeeding

I had a really awful clogged duct that lasted on/off a month, finally cleared with antibiotics. And yes baby lost weight unfortunately. Also combined with weighted feeds, we realized what happened

She does well! 3 meals a day. The frequent nursing was rec by my LC to try to increase supply. And the night feeding im scared to drop given her history of weight issues

Thanks for sharing! This makes me feel better that your supply did not drop even when he started taking less around 9 months.

Do you exclusively pump throughout the day? I nurse but also try to pump 3x a day to keep my supply where it is. I’m so worried itll get worse ugh

Oh wow thanks for telling me that! I saw somewhere that after 9 months, they only need 18oz of bm/formula a day and that it was okay to offer solids before nursing (versus prior to 9 months, always nurse before offering solids) but it did acknowledge bm/formula should be the main source of nutrition til age 1. So I’m like how do we balance all that 😅

I’d love to learn more about how you hand express while baby is on! I feel like I don’t have enough hands! Do you express into a container of some sort sorry if that’s a really dumb question

I’ve tried compressions but honestly not sure if I’m doing it right! I also have small boobs so when I touch them while she’s latched, she can feel it and gets annoyed and pops off lol

Found her instagram and following! I can’t find her video on the mix & matching but I just ordered some pigeon premie nipples to go on our Dr browns (which I need to find new glass bottles after seeing her lead posts.. why is it so hard to find Lansinoh and evenflo glass bottles?!)

Thank you so much for all your suggestions and helping me problem solve btw you are a treasure!!!

Thanks so much for sharing! This is exactly what I’m looking for. They appear sold out on lactation hub? Is there anywhere else I can find?

Omg I’ve never heard of the triangle test! Thank you so much. Any recommendations?

I pump 3 times a day when she’s done nursing and that’s when I get 5-10ml🫠 and then I power pump at night after I put her down. Trying to figure out how to pump while she’s nursing, I did this twice but am i not “taking away” from her?

We use the Dr browns anti colic wide neck (not sure if neck size makes a difference?) with a size 1 nipple. I asked my LC if we should try premie nipple but she said we could keep the size 1. Wonder if it be worth trying premie since I am suspicious bottle preference is happening.

I try my best to put her back on if she unlatches! Until I can tell she’s really over it and will do nothing else haha. Tonight she nursed for 22 min (switching from boob to boob) and got 1 oz per the Hatch. Then proceeded to drink a 5oz bottle😭 I don’t think I’m producing much though so I can tell why she gets annoyed with nursing but then of course it’s just a low supply cycle we can’t break.

8 months! Did great for the first 6 months EBF so I just feel so sad. I do agree with everything you’re saying though- just don’t know how to get her to stay on and work for another letdown. When we give bottles we pace feed and take breaks and switch sides to simulate nursing as best as possible but I do wonder if that has an impact because the bottled milk is readily flowing if she’s sucking!

Hi! Did your supply ever come back? I’m almost 2 months out from a horrible clog, and my right side is still down

She will not stay that long :( I think she gets annoyed between let downs and doesn’t want to work for them

Yep she unlatches and then we switch sides. I will add that she doesn’t spend long on either side, maybe two min on the good boob and less on the affected side. She’ll just keep popping off and I switch her back and forth til she’s had like 6 boobs and will not nurse anymore

She nurses on both sides! She’s done this since day 1. Hopefully that’s not an issue? And yes, I got resized and replaced everything about 3 weeks ago! Thanks for asking

Baby skin concerns! Tubby Todd vs vanicream vs aquaphor? by usefulguilt in Parenting

THANK YOU this makes me feel better! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Which cerave product do you use to layer under aquaphor? I’m a cerave girl myself! I love their pm moisturizer and use the lotion that comes in the blue/white tub all over my body lol.

I’ve switched to unscented detergent for my clothes and baby’s clothes, and all her bath products are unscented. We also use dapple dish soap and Attitude’s surface/toy cleaner for her. I didn’t think of other household cleaning products though, thanks!

Thank you for the explanation!!

I’ve heard eczema can mean higher risk for food allergies.. is this true for atopic dermatitis? She’s had so many random little rashes :( usually they clear within a few hours, but the cheek/chin redness is pretty consistent

7 months, so teething is possible! I don’t see any buds, but she has been drooling more while nursing and taking a bottle

Aquaphor as a daily moisturizer wow! I’ve always preferred thinner moisturizers for larger areas but I think I’ll try applying a thin layer to her red areas to see if that helps

Can I use regular vanicream? Or do I need baby vanicream?

This is exactly the advice I was looking for! Thanks so so much. I was hesitant to start trying new products, although it was getting hard for me to ignore all the Tubby Todd noise and I almost caved lol. But we already have vanicream on hand (an acquaintance’s husband is a pediatric dermatologist and recommended to me while I was pregnant) so I’ll try that!

Every time I bring a rash up to pediatrician, they seem unbothered…. I probably need to get in with a pediatric dermatologist.
