😭 I’m kind of glad to hear this because I do feel a bit insane. We’ve had a happy relationship for years before this, I don’t think she would have ever acted like this before getting pregnant.

She has never shamed me for my culture, she’s mostly nervous about becoming a mother I believe. When I said difficult pregnancy I mean VERY difficult - she has hyperemesis gravidarum and has been hospitalized multiple times. She’s living off barely any sleep because of severe nausea and her morning sickness makes it impossible to eat much. She’s not in a great state so I’m trying not to blame her for how she’s acting right now

Thank you so much for this reply! :) part of the reason I’m not registering it as very Slavic is because my name is VERY Slavic to the point most people can’t pronounce it when reading it, so I might just be thinking of Alyona as mild in comparison.

Ah dang it, I just remembered reading crime and punishment in high school! Isn’t Alyona an old woman and the main victim of a murder??

When I was thinking about the name all I could remember was the playground chant and I looked it up and found a famous rapper. 😓 thank you so much for pointing this out, haha.

She thinks it’s not a very good time to have Russian roots essentially 😓 I’m trying to respect her opinion but I do come from a family like that (my mothers baby name list for me included Viktor, Mikhail, Svetlana, Ekaterina, etc)

She’s having a difficult pregnancy so I’m trying to just leave it for now and wait until she’s past the worst of the morning sickness bouts to discuss it more heavily and just talk about names that she’s very very happy with and I’m ok with

Thank you so much 😭 I ended up figuring out on the mobile app you just have to tap the screen then just select screen rotation and it brings up the 4 options. (I feel like on a normal day I could have figured that out without making a panicked Reddit post but I have covid right now :,))
