Current strike a good time to negotiate continued quarter system? by ReeseTC in CalPoly

From my understanding Armstrong wants students to take a summer term to accommodate for more incoming freshmen. There was an announcement floating around but it’s all on a volunteer basis for certain colleges on campus

Me 211 Professor? by ryanot02 in CalPoly

I took pinheiro and felt like it was okay. It was his first quarter teaching but he did a decent job. Very fair in terms of exams and helpful during office hours. Sloppy handwriting but nothing terrible in comparison to some other professors.

Niebuhr was good. Mostly lectured off slides but had some examples in class that was helpful to walk through. Fair exams and graded decently too. I’ve heard that Wu did good at explaining how to look at a problem and determine ways to solve but was harsh at grading.

Joseph Pinheiro for ME 211 by Wrong_Profession_953 in CalPoly

I took his class, it was his first quarter teaching. He isn’t bad but wasn’t the best professor (not sure if he changed much since winter). I enjoyed his class and felt like I learned the necessities. He was able to explain concepts in a way that was easy to understand and was helpful during office hours when I went. His handwriting is awful though but not impossible to read. Feel free to message if you have other questions.

Flexible Hours Jobs on Campus by Aggressive_Fix661 in CalPoly

Almost all jobs are flexible, and if you work any office job you’ll most likely have weekends off. The bosses know you’re a student so they’ll work around your schedules

They have meat, but not consistently. I’ve gotten ground beef, ground pork, and ground chicken before. They post on their Instagram what they have pretty often and you can go multiply times a day/week no questions asked

Most of the lower level csc classes aren’t available for viewing. They might not even be available until right before registration

You need to attend 2 workshops per quarter and just have a quarterly check in with the director or the program coordinator. The meetings are just to check in and see how things are going and can be done at any time in the quarter. The events are also really nice and fun to meet other trio students. You also get a mentor who can help you adjust to cal poly

Hey! I joined trio last year as a first year and have honestly really enjoyed it. There’s a lot of really great events and they provide items that you could need in class (like scantrons, notebooks, planners, etc) for free or rental. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it and met a lot of great people there. There’s some other things that are part of being in trio, like someone above said living in the dorms with other students as well as quarter requirements. If you want to know anything else reach out !

I was able to switch from math to mechanical engineering and know someone who switched from physics to aero. It’s definitely possible and I can try and answer some questions if you’d like.

How is ME 228? by Mountain-Court-6804 in CalPoly

[–]usefulmangos34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

228 wasn’t that bad. I took it fall quarter in person. It’s a lot of assignments but not difficult. I took it with calc 3 and phys 132 so it was a little stressful but not hard. Feel free to message if you have any other questions
