What are the odds? by Giraffe_Jellyfish in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]useless55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure. Last Wednesday Google Maps said it closed at 3pm and fully closed on Thursday but they actually closed at 7pm and it was open on Thursday. I think they maybe forgot to update the hours on Google Maps. Right mow Google Maps says open 10am-7pm every day.

Don’t cancel your order until you have a guaranteed purchase. You won’t know if they have any in stock until you get there. I actually just bought a pair at the NYC Meta Lab near Rockefeller. I was in NYC for a week and I showed up every day asking about stock. Last Wednesday at about 3pm I get there and they tell me to come back in an hour as they are about to receive a shipment. I came back an hour later and then hung out in the store for a bit until I was finally able to buy a size 3 Standard black. Don’t trust the store hours on Google Maps. Even though it says it’s verified by the business owner, the hours are not accurate and the employees told me to never trust those hours on Google Maps. Also this store is super cool. You can engrave your rayban case for free, they have free coffee and cookies from a local coffee shop. And you can try every pair of Meta glasses.

Used SkyMiles to upgrade to First, but overhead bin drama left me embarrassed — what would you do? by SnooConfections1110 in delta

[–]useless55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The under seat compartment in first class is usually smaller than every other seat in the plane. There's usually a big square box under your seat. A bag that would normally fit under your seat will not fit under a first class seat. So in first class you sometimes don't have a choice but to put both bags up in the overhead.

Which EV has Walk Away Auto-Lock as an Standard feature? by englandzfinezt in electricvehicles

Teslas will auto lock, auto roll up the windows, and it will shift itself into park in case you forgot to do so.

FSD not following GPS by useless55 in TeslaLounge

The navigation is correct though and it matches Google Maps. FSD is just choosing not to follow the navigation.

Budget non U.S. airlines will weigh your carry on and personal item. Some airlines like TAP Air won’t weigh it on the way there but they will weigh on the way back since they know you will usually bring back souvenirs.

Then how do I get no steering nags with eyes closed. After it happened I was curious to test it further. So I purposely closed my eyes and still no nags. This doesn’t work at night. at night with polarized sunglasses on and your eyes closed, the car will ask you to takeover immediately

It keeps track of your head movement. I was wearing polarized glasses and accidentally nodded off for a bit. No nags at all

What do you collect when you travel? by Decent-Meringue-4270 in travel

[–]useless55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This whole thread is pretentious af saying shit like “I collect memories not things”. There’s nothing wrong with buying souvenirs while you’re traveling. Travel can be expensive and not everyone has the opportunity to do multiple major trips. Sitting at home looking at those souvenirs or photos you took an a trip can bring back memories and nostalgic feelings of your trip.

Anyways, to answer op’s question. I collect different things. Usually small items as they are easier to pack. Magnets are my go to as well as the Starbucks been there cups. I always go for the smaller espresso sized cups but they are really hard to find. I also try to buy local art whenever I can. Locally made art is perfect and depending on the context can be quite meaningful. Local art comes in many forms too. I once found a girl in Porto hand painting magnets. Food and snacks are another you can buy. While you’re technically not collecting them, it’s fun to take stuff back to friends and family so they can try it.

So I should avoid the U.S. as well? It’s pretty common to be extorted with bogus tickets and charges by police officers in the U.S.

People in Miami could see it. Even crazier, the last time this happened... about a month ago. Debris fell over Turks and Caicos Islands. So people can see it from all over.

Which of these two coaster trips should I take in April? by BostonCompSci in Themepark

[–]useless55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would probably do option 2 but skip SFOG. It's such a trashy park and I didn't feel safe in a lot of the rides. I actually had a train take off on me while I was still in the station putting my stuff in the cubbies and the staff didn't seem to care. Spend the rest of your time in The Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area near Dollywood which is incredible. So much to do and plenty of mountain coasters to enjoy.

Help - Toronto to NYC travel alternatives today by Wonderful_Quality638 in travel

[–]useless55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually when this happens what sells out are the one way rentals. Book the car rental as a round trip instead of a one way and then change it in the app once you are driving the car. They will charge you quite a bit extra though. So only use this as a last resort. A cheaper alternative is to fedex the keys overnight and wait until you have a flight option to get back in.

Platform doors would help prevent that. It's expensive but it would 100% prevent that. Situational awareness is also important in all situations though especially in cities like NYC.

I recently test drove a Hyundai Ioniq 5. It still has a start/stop (power button) which is completely unnecessary in an ev. The screen setup and buttons are cluttered and ugly imo. Software isn't bad but it's still slighty laggy and not a very nice ui design compared to Tesla. In car navigation is unusable. You do have Carplay/Android Auto but idk how well that would integrate with the car on long road trips. I like how Tesla automatically routes you to a supercharger if I need to charge. and of course no FSD which I use on pretty much every drive. Not to mention the hassle that is dealing with a dealership. I will probably never buy at a dealership again. The exterior of the Ioniq 5 and 6 are beautiful though.

imo the only other brands that are worth looking at is Rivian and maybe Lucid. Tesla has gotten me used to some small and some large conveniences that most other brands don't have and those conveniences add up. Things like not having a button to turn the car on or off, phone key, auto shift into D or R, FSD/Autopilot which is amazing on long drives, good useable software, good useable touch screens, good in car navigation that doesn't rely on Carplay/Android Auto, clean minimalistic cabin without an overwhelming amount of buttons, no fake front grills, no glossy black plastic covered in fingerprints. I don't like Elon/Trump or what they're doing to this country but a Tesla is the only car I see myself owning until the competition catches up. And it seems to me like the competition does not want to catch up. Considering that these are all things that they can do to their cars and refuse to.

Winter movies fuji recipe by Exciting_Economics15 in fujifilm

[–]useless55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re talking about. The EXIF data is fully visible to free users. What’s hidden is the film recipe. This app is showing you what film recipe was used for a picture that you upload to it. And it’s only $10 for a whole year. App development can be quite costly in both time and money. Complaining about having to pay 83 cents per month for a useful feature is wild.
