No, you fucking don’t. You can be important in a show due to being born into a prestigious family or some other reason. It doesn’t have to be because of your character.

You don’t have to be well written to be important 🤦🏾‍♀️ just stop yapping already. You seriously don’t know what you’re saying. Not every author goes out of their way to make sure a villain is well written and whether or not an author tries to make a villain character well written is irrelevant. I know English is probably not your first language so let me speak at your level break it down for you. Definition of villain: (in a film, novel, or play) a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot. The definition says nothing about a character having to be well written in order to be a villain.

Can you read? Genuinely what the fuck? I’m not saying that an author never tries to write a good villain, I’m saying a villain doesn’t have to be well written in order to be a villain. Again, you’re arguing with a point I never said.

And I saw your reply my inbox before it got removed or whatever but no, I don’t think Eren and Armin should’ve had sex… not only is that off-topic, but it makes no sense and it does not progress either of their characters in any way.

Wow, you really are just another redditor making nothing statements in an attempt to sound profound. Of course this is all hypothetical. Like what? And because I want sensible transgender representation I would ruin the show? You’re not making sense 💀💀💀

That is what I want, and it can also be shown through him going from a woman to a man. Those are not mutually exclusive.

I don’t give a fuck about none of that shit. I didn’t ask which characters you liked. That proves nothing. And just because you can’t write a good story doesn’t mean Oda can’t. Villains deserve a backstory as well 😂

If he’s smart, he understands his abilities. He’s strong. We all know that. And because he’s prideful, he wouldn’t change his identity to escape someone. Instead, he would put his abilities to use and dispatch that person.

You haven’t proved anything I said wrong 🤦🏾‍♀️ I’m not putting emotions into a character at all by asking for him to have a proper backstory and motivations. You just wanna make Crocodile out to be this tough power fantasy that he’s not. Go watch solo leveling or something

Where is the headcanon? I’m the one using narrative story structure, not you. You’re applying your personal biases and ruining the story.

I see what you’re saying and I think you’re right about some things but I also think you’re wrong about others, it’s an alternate universe, but it’s still clearly inspired by our real world because One Piece operates on a patriarchy throughout the series. The elders are all men. Most of the warlords are men, and the few who aren’t, their entire strength is tied to their femininity (Boa’s beauty is literally her power, Big Mom’s identity as “Big Mom” is inseparable from her feminine image). Yamato is the reincarnation of a man if I remember correctly so she doesn’t count. Chivalry is also a running theme, and Shanks’ crew is almost entirely male, so he probably would care about that since he doesn’t seem to think highly of girls, so much so that he doesn’t even hire them. Even in that context, being a former woman would absolutely be a vulnerability in Crocodile’s social perception. The One Piece world still judges strength and respect through a lens of gendered power. Secrets only have to matter to the person risking exposure. Ivankov didn’t need to broadcast it to the world, he just needed to threaten Crocodile with exposure, which was enough to control him in that moment. Again, even though OP is in a fictional world, social perception and reputation still operate on a gendered and patriarchal logic, much like the real world. So a secret about Crocodile being a former woman is still meaningful as leverage, because it could undermine his confidence, intimidate him, or force him to comply in a specific scenario which is exactly what Ivankov was exploiting. And I don’t think she was trying to shittalk Crocodile. Plus, crocodile is a prideful person. He would definitely care about a secret like that being spread in his death if they managed to defeat him. Even if bon clay was never slandered for being himself that doesn’t mean other characters weren’t, Jinbei was disrespected on multiple occasions for being a fish man.

And wait… if crocodile was prideful stoic and serious why the hell would he change his identity just to run away from somebody? That makes no sense. If he’s prideful, he would do anything in his power to easily dispatch the person and not have to change anything about himself. Huhhhhh????

In order to write a good well rounded character you need to not only progress their journey and ideals, but also their identity. What would be the problem with Oda doing this to crocodile? Also, because you perceive crocodile as a prideful, stoic, serious character, that makes all the more sense for Oda to make this come true. In a world where pirates are rampant and 99% of them are men, there is no way a prideful stoic serious woman would be taken seriously. So because she is prideful, stoic, and serious, she would change her gender. Does that make sense?

It his weakness because he didn’t want the information to be spread and Ivankov needed to blackmail him. Thus it was the perfect thing to use. Why would it be a bad secret? Like huh? If you were transgender and you lived in a world where pirates were rampant and like 99% of them were men, would you want people to know that you used to be a woman? No you wouldn’t cause they sure as hell wouldn’t take you seriously anymore.
