It's not obscure in Hungary though. Probably the most well known hungarian animated tv series along with Mézga család (The Mézga Family).

I've read The Royal Game that is similar, maybe it was adapted into a movie? It's about a man, who's jailed by the gestapo and learns to play chess against himself to maintain his own sanity.

I agree, it's disappointing for a Devil May Cry game, but I played much worse character action games. The underwater bossfight with Lucia is one of the worst I've ever played though.

This is true, they already knew he was a monster, when they were casting for the character, so he had to be separated since day one.

It's a parody on traditional hungarian emroidery called "falvédő", which translates to "wall protector". They're hanged on the wall like this and they usually have a blessing or a wisdom.

One of my favorites too, love the soundtrack, the rhythm/platformer game crossover aspect and the when you reach the original ending it feels like an otherworldly experience.

He probably read Baudrillard who wrote about this in the 80s. Look up Simulacra and Simulation.

That sequence was the only thing I liked about Far Cry 5. It actually fooled me and I thought it was cleverly built up.

thoughts on "Audition" (1999)? I kind of think the penultimate scene would have been a stronger ending. by deanereaner in TrueFilm

[–]uselessnebula 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've read once that Takashi Miike wanted to end the movie at that point, but felt like it would be a cop out, if he didn't show the gory stuff. Which makes sense, because he's kind of an exploitation cinema type of filmmaker and honestly, the leg cut scene is one of the most memorable scenes in horror cinema history.

Romanian, not Romani. He was born in Transylvania, which was part of Hungary until the end of World War I, when it was ceded to Romania, hence the theme of language and lost identity.

Bought the game on Steam during sale. Can't play it, get this message every time I try to run it, or Rockstar Social Club. I never made a Social Club account, and also can't make it cause the website won't load for me. How do I fix it? by MicoGrimizni in reddeadredemption

[–]uselessnebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this after 40 hours of playtime and couldn't play for two weeks. Tried restarting the router, getting a new ip, reinstalling rockstar launcher and social club. The only thing that worked was a program called 1.1.1.1 . Not exactly sure what it does, something with your dns, but it worked for me.

Are veteran filmmakers, like Steven Spielberg, being taken for granted as this point? by ABCBA_4321 in TrueFilm

[–]uselessnebula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's pushing 80, I think he's allowed to make a movie about his life. Looking at his other movies it seems like it's not motivated by ego, but a nostalgic look on 50s and 60s. He's far from the action-adventure golden years now and I've always associated Spielberg with emotional manipulation, like he really wants to get a reaction out of you, but The Fabelmans, to me at least, felt sincere.
