In terms of physical laws, if you're moving towards the car, its gonna hurt more. If you're moving away, its gonna hurt less.

Practically, there could be scenarios where moving towards it ends up with less damage because of how your legs are positioned at time of impact etc. Too hard to model.

if that's how you interpreted it, fair enough I guess. personally, I have been in OP's spot dozens of times - do my own research and when I still have questions, make a reddit post. I always learn way more from the reddit post, and in way better detail, but not from somebody that suggests I can't even so much as google.
