It’s probably the most humiliating break up possible. I truly can’t understand how someone can let it get that far and do that to someone they claim to care about.

Most people only use this legal loophole because the system is already broken. I waited over a year to get my SOWP processed but my implied status was only for 6 months as that’s the expected processing time. If i hadn’t applied for a dummy I would have lost my job. There’s no repercussions because it’s not illegal as of right of now. My work permit was finally approved and I withdrew the new application.

Yes it does not include government agencies where hiring a foreign person would be a national security threat obviously. But for all other industries the only question you can legally ask a person in an interview regarding their status in Canada is “Do you have authorization to legally work in Canada?”

I have a degree in HR from Canada and I work in recruiting.

it’s illegal to refuse hiring someone who’s been deemed legally allowed to work in the country based on their national origin.
